At the suggestion of my daughter, she and I came here for the dumplings. Even though they were closed for staff lunch, they let us in. The dumplings (pork, cabbage, perhaps something more) were delicious. The dipping sauce was mundane but I ignored that because the dumplings were so good.

Stopped in for some dinner with my buddy. Ordered the chef's dinner, and order or general's chicken, and some fried rice. We both left with a full meal for leftovers after we already stuffed ourselves. Prices were great, we got all that food for $24. It rocks! We will be back.

We have been coming here for years for family Chinese New Year dinners and the food is always hearty and delicious! We also come here for lunch on occasion on Sundays and today was no exception. It is homestyle cooking and we ordered 3 dishes for $19.99 and they even included the "house" soup which was nice and hot and tasty. We ordered the combination tofu dish which has assorted meats, string beans with sliced pork and the steamed spareribs with black bean sauce. All were good; however the steamed spareribs took a bit longer to cook as it needs to be steamed so I am minusing one star as it was at least 30 minutes before we got our steamed spareribs. They use the actual spareribs in the dish but waiting 30 minutes for the dish was a bit too long to wait. Normally it takes about 15-20 minutes.
Discovered this place via tripadvisor, so glad we did! If you can tolerate a little bit of heat don't be turned away by the reviews talking about the typical Szech. heat. I ordered a "flaming" dish from their menu and it really wasn't so hot. Very casual decor but patrons are definitely "smart casually" dressed. Must-do in China Town.

China Village is beautifully situated on an elevated deck overlooking waterways, pond and a wooden bridge on Bay FarmIsland in Alameda. The lovely view is enough of a reason to come in, but with the delicious food , excellent service, relaxed atmosphere and reasonable prices, it's a special spot to visit among Alameda and East Bay restaurants of any kind, including Chinese. The high-ceilinged interior is decorated with Chinese screens. The service is friendly and unobtrusive. We had several dishes, including their outstanding house special China Villa Chicken, plus a tofu and black mushroom dish, beautifully presented. The brown rice was perfect cooked. The restaurant does a lot of take-away food. If you have time, come not just for the delicious food, but also the waterside setting. it was cozy on a cold night, and in warmer weather you can watch ducks while you enjoy your food and drink. If you don't know the area...park in the large car lot at Harbor Bay Landing, face Safeway, and walk left toward the water. You'll see a real estate office. China Villa, and a Mexcian restaurant, are on a separate walkway behind the real estate office-- down and then up a few steps.

Little Shin Shin on Piedmont Avenue routinely gets "Best of the East Bay" awards but, strictly from the point of view of food quality, I think that The Ark is far superior.First of all they make their hand-pulled noodles on the premises. It is great to watch if you are lucky enough to catch it but even of you don't see them made, the noodles are incredible -- very tender. The same can be said of their dumplings -- incredibly tender dough with a wonderfully flavored filling. The chow mien and chow fun dishes are also fantastic. The place is small, somewhat noisy, and parking can be tricky but it is definitely worth it.

East Ocean Seafood Restaurant open its doors 35 years ago on Webster St in Oakland, then moved to the present location in Alameda, also on Webster Street 24 years ago. Here you will find hand made dim sum made by seasoned dimsum masters every morning. In
In the greater Oakland area and surrounding suburbs/communities, this is the place to go for dim sum. The staff is friendly and helpful if you have questions. The har gow and sui mai are everything you would expect...very good flavor. The deep fried taro dumplings are also a favorite and very good. Baked BBQ pork buns are OK. I have had better in the China Towns on both sides of the Bay. Egg tarts are much better in the local bakeries. Shrimp-chive dumplings; black sesame mochi; and shrimp rice noodles are good. The seafood bean curd was just OK.We have visited this place many times over the past decades; but only when we visit family in the area. We have eaten many of the dim sum offerings over the years. This place has a small parking lot behind the restaurant; but street parking is available. We visited mid-week before the main lunch hour and luckily found street parking at the front door. Mid-week, sadly we missed the "carts" where you can get your dim sum choices as the carts 'float' by. We ordered from a menu and the dim sum was delivered via cart. In reality, there was one cart that roamed among the diners; but the selections were extremely limited though they did periodically change what was on the cart. Advantages of mid-week visit are less competition for parking and less ambient noise in the restaurant because there are fewer diners. However, by the time we were finished, many customers had entered for "lunch". It was plenty noisy then. By the way, forks are available should you desire.I expect we will continue to visit this restaurant in the coming years.
