This restaurant is in a shared building with other businesses and is located behind the Drunken Monkey restaurant.
We stopped by on a Saturday night when we were turned away from Drunken Monkey...not really turned away but the 60+ minute wait was not going to work for my party of 7 which included 2 children under age 4. I think this place relies to some extent on overflow business from the clearly very popular sushi place next door. It was still pretty packed and took a while to get our large party accommodated, and then even longer to get our food. I have a feeling they are a bit overwhelmed and understaffed on busy weekend nights.Overall we liked the food. We would not go out of our way for it but at the same time it was tasty and fairly priced. Authentic or not? I cannot say since I am not a Thai expert. But I like what I like and I do have reasonably high standards, and this place was A-Okay. As long as you don't come in expecting to find Phuket or Bangkok in Truckee you will be fine.

Tucked away not far from the Truckee Airport, this place serves tasty, well-prepared dishes in a comfortable setting. We were there on a Friday night, when weekenders were arriving from the Bay Area. The result was a full house, but the layout prevented the noise level from overwhelming any one table. My seafood tempura appetizer was just right, with a light batter coating rolled in panko bread crumbs. Crisp on the outside, tasty on the inside. I followed that with sashimi moriawase, an assortment of very fresh fish presented as a treat to the eye. My wife satisfied herself fully with the Yakiniku beef donburi, with veggies that filled one up while the beef offered protein balance and flavor. We enjoyed our meal and would return again.

This chain has pretty good quality control . I have never been to a bad Panda. This one was fast and the food good. Lots of people in and out. There was someone cleaning the whole time we were in there. It was spotless. Panda has just added brown rice for a healthier fare.

Makiali started with the simple idea of wanting a great local place to have Sushi and other amazing Asian offerings here in Truckee. All that was needed was the right spot to do just that. Truckee, and the surrounding North Tahoe area, loves Sushi. There
We tried this Sushi spot based on a recommendation but probably need to try a 2nd time. The smallish restaurant was not quite 1/2 full and we arrived when happy hour sushi specials were still available. Unfortunately the slow service to get our order in and to get it to our table left us feeling rushed to pick the 2nd and 3rd items. Freshness of ingredients was obvious. We did enjoy everything we ordered. The ginger however was the typical oversized and toughlike pieces, more pink tinted instead of the natural color of pickled ginger. To go orders kept going out the door which might explain the delay in getting our plates more timely. But that also seems to indicate that they have a lot of volume in take out orders. So, MakiAli could be a regular favorite if customer service would be improved (as in Japanese style hospitality) and eat in prices were lower. We like to support local (non-chain) enterprises.
