I've been twice (once for takeout, once eat in). I had the sushi and a bento box. I am not a "true" sushi eater (nothing raw) so...The staff is nice. The restaurants gets extremely busy. Prices are average. Parking in the mall is a nightmare. But worth the visit if you are in the area.

A dozen of us celebrated a little one's first birthday at this excellent emporium of edible Asian specialties. All the food was visually beautiful, but particularly the sushi and dim sum items. We enjoyed making a circuit of the buffet bars to inspect offerings before committing to choices on the plate.

FOOD: If youâre looking for authentic traditional Japanese cuisine, this may not be the right place for you. But if you like creative, scrumptious, and reasonably priced sushi, give this place a try. We particularly enjoyed the lion king roll, the dynamite roll, and the scorpion roll. Also, the yuzu chicken wings were fantastic.SERVICE: Service was simply superb. The chef presented each dish with enthusiasm and thoughtfully explained its composition in great detail. Itâs evident that heâs passionate about his craft and deeply committed to pleasing the customers.PRICE: Our bill averaged out to around $26 per person.

A friend and I went in a few weeks ago for dinner. It was nearly empty and we were seated right by the entrance to the kitchen door. We kindly asked to be seated somewhere else since the restaurant was practically ours for the taking! (We also noticed an overwhelming smell of cleaning solution throughout our meal, not pleasant.) The food was average and it was rather annoying because we were never able to get a refill on our beverage. Needless to say, we did not linger. We won't go back, the food was fine but the service was lousy.
I was shopping at the Target in the Serra Shopping Center (Junipero Serra Blvd & Serramonte Blvd) and found this new restaurant (next to Starbucks & Chipotle) via Yelp. Its basically sushi in a bowl and it was something they've been doing in Hawaii. There are a number of different "Poke" restaurants in southern Calif. and Poke Bowl isn't part of any large chain; just two stores (the other in San Francisco). You can choose between 3 different size bowls and the type of fish you want in your bowl. With the small bowl you can choose 2 different fish, with a medium bowl you get 3 different fish, with the large bowl 4. Choices include tuna, salmon, albacore, shrimp, scallops, crab, seared albacore, hamaki, and unagi. For a fixed price ($6.99 small, 8.75 med, $9.99 large if cash, slightly higher if paying by credit card) you can choose among any of the fish with the exception of seared albacore, hamaki and unagi costing extra but shrimp, crab and scallops are included in the standard price. You also choose the any or all of the 'sides' (cucumber, carrot, jalepeno, sweet corn, white onion are standard) and the type of sauce and the toppings (seaweed salad, edamame, ginger, wasabi, fried garlic chips, etc. pineapple, tamago, and avocado they charge extra for.) but plenty of 'standard' choices.Of course it includes either white rice, brown rice, salad, chips or kelp noodles as the base for your bowl. The place has a few seats (counter style along a wall and the window front) but it is primarily take-out. If you are shopping at Serra Shopping Center or at the larger Serramonte Shopping Center (on the west side of U.S. Highway 280) this is a convenient place to stop by to take something home... or stop by Starbucks next door and then sit at one of Starbucks outdoors tables to have your poke bowl along with Starbucks beverage. The small bowl was satisfying and filling. I'm not a big eater though. Most people might go with a medium. worth a try if you happen to be out in that area. As I mentioned there is another store in San Francisco (1250 Ocean Ave. San Francisco, CA 94112) which is near City College in SF.This was my first time there but I will definitely go again. And I'm normally not the sushi eater among my family. Normally when we go out to a Japanese restaurant and they choose sushi I'll have some of the California roll i.e. only cooked stuff, or choose tempura or a bento box.) It does beat going to other 'fast food' places cause a burger and fries at the big "M" isn't any cheaper. If you're visiting the Bay Area, depending upon where you are from, this might be something new to try out if you happen to be in the area. I wouldn't necessarily drive all the way out here from downtown SF. There are a few other different restaurants in San Francisco that also focus on Poke. One in the Castro district and one in the inner sunset district though I haven't tried either.

I had some misgivings about this place when I agreed to come with a bunch of my wife's friends for lunch. This is a huge place that easily accommodated our group of 10 people. The food is all served buffet style, and the selection has to be seen to be believed. We started with sushi and some dim sum dumplings before moving on to shrimp (several different kinds), chicken (ditto), and noodles (ditto again). You get the picture.Frankly, I found most of the dishes mediocre. The pot stickers, for example, were doughy and suffered from sitting around on the steam table. This is a very popular place for lunch, particularly among the elder component of the population. Lots of gray hair. The table service, consisting of water, tea, and cleanup, was superb. I discovered more tea in my cup without asking and wondered when that happened. The price of this feast is certainly reasonable. Each share came to $18, complete with tip, after rounding up. Not bad for enough to last for quite a while. So long as you know what to expect, you'll enjoy this place.
