Generous portions of meat with choice of asada, pollo, pastor, carnitas, chorizo, lengua, , suadero, cabeza, and tripe. We ordered alambres which is made with your choice of meat sautéed with bell peppers, bacon and cheese. Portions were generous and enough to share. It came with 6 tortillas in a tortilla warmer. Each table was given four sauces in squeeze bottles: habanero, mild red, mild green, and avocado sauce. Free basket of fresh made tortilla chips and salsa.

This little Mexican restaurant is well worth searching out for its authentic food and cozy atmosphere. Tiki grass umbrellas shading a few tables alongside the parking lot make the restaurant easy to spot. Very unpretentious inside, with menu posted on the wall, prices super reasonable, an fresh orange juice squeezing machine, and a small cooler with beer and soft drink choices. Tables and chairs inside if you want to eat on the premises or quick food to go. My husband loves the chile verde, I love the nachos with white cheese, chicken, guacamole, tomatoes, and jalapenos, my grandson loves the BCR (bean, cheese, rice burrito), the shrimp small soft tacos are excellent, and the chile relleno will amaze you with its size and flavor. Breakfasts are cooked to order, all kinds of omelets, cheese, veggie, mushroom, meats, served with just the right amount of crispy hash brown potatoes and no toast unless you request it. Close to the walking trail along the canal in Pleasant Hill and just off Gregory Lane in a small strip mall, this place also will cater. They provided a family dinner for my husband's birthday recently and everybody remarked how tasty the food was and how carefully presented and still hot. Obviously, they care!

El Aguila offers delicacies from traditional Southern Mexican cuisine. The handmade fresh corn, gluten free tortillas,all-natural,hormone-free,antibiotic-free meats and homemade chorizo are just a few reasons behind Chef Patlan's specialties. Experience t
Though my favorite little dumpy Mexican restaurant is El Faro, on Monument Blvd in Concord, Iâd have to say that El Aguila prepares the best Mexican food around. Itâs not your place if you want âregularâ fare â the same tacos, enchiladas, burritos, etc. that you find everywhere. El Aguila serves up dishes that are unique and delicious. My favorites are the tostada with brisket and the chile relleno, but everything I, my wife, and friends have ordered has been great. Another plus is that all ingredients are fresh, and the food just seems a bit lighter and healthier than a lot of Mexican food. The place is small and there are no reservations taken, but weâve never had to wait too long for a table. It has a coffee shop atmosphere, which means that you donât come here for ambience or âvibe.â You come to enjoy what I think is the freshest, tastiest Mexican food in Contra Costa (though I canât say that Iâve had better in any other Bay Area location either)!

El Tapatio is a Family oriented Mexican restaurant with great food, large portions, and friendly prices.
El Tapatio is nearby. Been there a dozen times before over the years. They have a bar as you walk in (friendly area, with some tables there) and then you walk into the big wide tiled room. Not much ambience, in that wide-open area. Not a romantic place for couples. All the tables are right there. We went there on a recent Friday and, the place seemed "lit up" to us. First off, it's Friday. It was fully packed. There is a community college within a block, so I noticed was how multi-generational and animated it was on Friday ---- everyone was having a great time. Tables for 2, for 4 for 6, etc. All in that big room. There were grandparents, couples, kids, students. We really enjoy places like that. Like a big family.Onto the food. We've eaten there before and the Mexican food was fine in the past, but not memorable. On Friday, I had arrachera (marinated flank steak, Mexican style) with sides. Eating partner had a beef enchilada and chicken taco, on the 2-item combo. Both our dishes were very good. And, the price was excellent. We're used to high-quality Mexican food in Mexico, from Mexican chefs and were quite impressed with the flavors, the quality of the arrachera steak preparation and the sides (guacamole and pico de gallo, plus rice and beans), for the price. Both full dinners were $13. Our server was attentive, friendly and conversational. The house margarita was $7.00 and pretty good.Overall, we were impressed. Better than the last time we there around a year ago. We'll be back soon. Very good food and service -- and value.
