Most famous for hosting the annual New Year's Tournament of Roses Parade and Rose Bowl, Pasadena is more than just a football town. Its extravagant City Hall boasts a beautiful Baroque dome, a courtyard garden and relaxing fountain. El Cholo Pasadena opened its doors to the public in October 2000 on Fair Oaks Ave. We moved to the Paseo Mall in December 2010 on Colorado Blvd. keeping the 88 year old legend going strong. All of the El Cholo restaurants feature authentic and traditional
Been eating at El Cholo chains for years the service was just terrible,..you couldn't get any help in bar area unless you waved down a waiter,..literally had to ask for chips, salsa, water, drinks were always wrong, might I add it was not crowded. Te only thing positive I can say in the patio area is nice and I had a good time with a long time friend. I'll stick to my Downtown La location or the Original on Western

We were very sad to see Azeen's close, however Maestro has completely transformed the space and the food is excellent. I had the chicken enchilada, one in our party had pork belly, another duck and the last fish of the day. All entrees were excellent. Happily it was happy hour and we ordered the Calamari- excellent with a spicy sauce and wine 6 bucks a glass. For dessert we ordered the ducal du leech carrot cake and fun/creme brûlée with decaf French press coffee. Dinner with one appetizer, two glasses of wine, two cocktails, two coffees and two desserts came to $160.00 without tip. Least expensive entree was enchiladas doe 15 bucks. Nice modern fusion of latin food. Great atmosphere, great happy hour and full bar. Parking nearby , public and valet. Excellent service. Located on Union in what was formerly Azeen's in a great shopping, walking area. Outdoor seating also.

Came here at 11 am on a Sunday--within 20 minutes the restaurant was packed. Great idea straddling two mealtimes--my son had breakfast (involving eggs), my husband and I the lunch/dinner entrees. Everything was great and staff was efficient, kind and helpful. Portions are HUGE! You can easily split a meal between two adults. My burrito was yummy--highly recommended!

I love going here and having empanadas, "Sweetbread or mollejas", the meat cuts are excellent and you cant go wrong accompanying your meals with a good Malbec. A must try if you are in the area.

We loved the vibe and atmosphere and enjoyed being here. However, our dinner menu selection of enchiladas and burritos was very unremarkable and the prep and presentation was indistinguishable from just about any Mexican restaurant. Certainly âokâ. I guess our expectations were too high based on the reviews of others. In all fairness we need to try some of their specialties next time to compare. Nonetheless, I would expect a highly rated restaurant to ânail itâ with basic Mexican dishes.

A bit pricey, v busy on a Friday night. The food was really good from the appetizers, empanadas and calamari, to the entrees. Each of our three meat/ steak entrees were delicious. Avoid dessert though.Good night out!
