Had dinner here with my wife and son on a Sunday. Crowded and noisy; we had a tough time conversing. My grilled cheese sandwich and tomato bisque were tasty -- but it would be easy to find something as good or better in a more relaxed setting. Also, they brought our appetizer after our entrees had arrived. It does take reservations, which is a plus, because it gets crowded. Valet parking in the rear

Gastropub meets Steakhouse with Industrial Chic Interior. Menu is consisted of American Comfort Food items with our own twist.
Arrived in Calabasas around 6PM, not having eaten since breakfast. Couldn't find a place to eat until we asked someone in the nearby industrial park, who directed us to Calabasas. Food and service were simply great! Hats off to Ashley for the excellent service! There were four of us and we ordered four different kinds of beer. One of the kegs was empty and, as it would take ten minutes or so to bring up and tap a new keg, she brought a complimentary glass of a similar beer to compensate. Food was terrific: deep fried mac & cheese balls, a very interesting take on poutine, Mexican-style roasted corn on the cob and another couple of dishes were all delicious. We found the prices to be reasonable - neither expensive nor cheap - for what we got and we would happily return if we ever find ourselves in the area again.

Other than the artist being good, this place is not somewhere I'll visit again. I felt as though I was back in the 1980's in a raunchy, dark, beer soaked bar at college. Service was OK and that's stretching it. My order was wrong twice. Food was edible at most. Ask our server for water after giving her a 30% tip and she was never to be seen again. Do not close out your bill until you've ordered and received the food/drink you want. Sound was way too loud. Seating was at a long picnic style table with about 20 other people. It was very difficult to even move. I had a steel pole in view with no way to move around it. The area around the venue seems very nice. If I ever visit the area again, I would find other things to do. The venue is not nice enough in my opinion to go for just that no matter what artist is playing.

I've enjoyed Islands for around 30 years and this is one of the "newer" restaurants over that time. I've been here many times and most recently things were going very well. This place hires local teenagers and young adults as staff and does a good job delivering hot food and good table service.
