I love Yoshi's for their food, service, ambience, venue, what's not to like? Everything was perfect except for 2 things but I'll go into detail after I sing their praises. We came here to see Pride and Joy, a local group celebrating their 37th Anniversary and we have followed them over the years. And what a great intimate opportunity to see them! I made reservations by phone and indicated that we would be celebrating a birthday. We came with 2 other couples who bought Yoshi's gift cards at Costco in advance as you pay $80 for $100 gift cards. Then Before we bought tickets for the show, I saw the general admission tickets on Gold Star for half the price on Ticketfly so I bought 6 tickets! When we arrived it was a few minutes before we were seated but once seated, our server, Michael was very attentive and since he knew it was a birthday celebration as well as us attending the concert inside the showroom, he kept checking with the manager to find out when we would be getting our seat assignments. If you eat in the restaurant, they reserve the seats inside the showroom for your dinner party. Dinner was delish, we had the edamame (complimentary with Yelp check-in), beet salad, spinach salad, black cod, pork chop, and seabass. The only dish that was off was the Brussel sprouts as it was way too sour for our taste. Then we had dessert of sorbet duo, Caf brownie and trio of gelato! Michael remembered to light a candle on the brownie to wish our friend a Happy Birthday! The only other con was that once we finished our dessert and lined up for the show, there was a really long line and we all waited for at least 15 minutes past the showtime to be allowed inside the venue. I believe the reason for the delay was that Yoshi's scheduled another musician to perform at 6:30 pm and after that show, they had to clean up the theatre and let Pride and Joy set up the stage for their show.

Inspired by the artisanal ingredients and simple, rustic flavors of his native Tohoku region, chef-owner Shotaro Kamio blends the obscure with the familiar for surprisingly extraordinary tastes. Craft beer, wine and sake. Seasonal, local farm-sourced ingr
On Monday nights, this place serves its lunch menu - hence, dinner for the price of lunch. We booked for 5:30 p.m. when the restaurant opens. As opening time approached, a line started to form. Those without reservations were turned away.We ordered several items to share. The pork belly ramen was exquisite. The tempura with prawns was the most unique dish. Instead of individual fried pieces of vegetables and shrimp, all the ingredients were chopped and mixed into one big piece. The serving included four big pieces, each the size of a big hand. We ordered a few other dishes to share, but the tempura and the ramen were stand outs.Service was prompt and professional.

A friend who has lunch about once a week at Kansai took me there a few days ago. Wow! First of all, there is so much CHOICE. We both had bento boxes. Howard had chicken teriyaki and California roll; I had salmon teriyaki. Each of us had soup, salad, and rice. Our total bill: under $17.00! Delicious! A large group came in ahead of us, and yet the service was super fast and friendly. They have a parking lot which is a real asset in that neighborhood. I will definitely make Kansai a regular of mine!

This is absolutely the BEST ramen in Oakland! We have tried several different places, and many were very good, but none like Marufuku. Terrific flavors and great chicken wings too. The wait can be very long so use the YELP app and join the waitlist to save time before you get there!
