Whenever I have a hankering for really good Japanese food that isn't too expensive I come here. They have an extensive menu with authentic soups, sushis, (including sushi bar) ramens, etc. There are dishes for everyone, even those Americans with finicky tastes. Their "beef roll-ups" melt in your mouth. Service is speedy and staff friendly.

On Monday nights, this place serves its lunch menu - hence, dinner for the price of lunch. We booked for 5:30 p.m. when the restaurant opens. As opening time approached, a line started to form. Those without reservations were turned away.We ordered several items to share. The pork belly ramen was exquisite. The tempura with prawns was the most unique dish. Instead of individual fried pieces of vegetables and shrimp, all the ingredients were chopped and mixed into one big piece. The serving included four big pieces, each the size of a big hand. We ordered a few other dishes to share, but the tempura and the ramen were stand outs.Service was prompt and professional.

Sushi Sho

Sushi-sho restaurant is small, new, clean and bright. Aki-san is a classic Master Chef who serves only the best ingredients he can find. He doesn't make trendy sushi (no funky roll with Cream Cheese!). Besides sushi, there is short menu with very classic Japanese dishes such as you may find in a little inn on the way to Kyoto. Try the smoked salmon that Aki smokes himself and compare its taste with that of the fresh salmon. Or trust Aki-san to prepare a selection of today's best cuts. You can't go there on the spur of the moment: reservations are required and there is a minimum spend of $40.00 on food per person. But the food is well worth it. We wish we could afford it more often.

This brand new Japanese/Sushi restaurant has fantastic, fresh, beautifully plated food. Opened by several long term local sushi chefs, who serve some of the best sushi I have tasted in the Bay Area. This is a great opportunity to eat fabulous, reasonably priced food without long lines. Eat here while you can. It's in the Pacific East Mall, just North of Berkeley, near I-80.

My sister brought me here for my first visit tonight. The chef is excellent, and the waitstaff is prompt, attentive, and patient. We had a little bit of everything -- appetizers, salads, sushi....Their miso soup is perfect -- not overly salty as so many others do.The sunomono salad and seaweed salads were both generous serving sizes, and freshly made for us. The ebi tempura was crisp, and the sauce was very good. The chicken teriyaki was excellent, although I did have to ask for more sauce. Each of the rolls we had (tempura roll and Fair Lady roll) were large sizes and excellent. The nigiri sushi was well prepared and tasty.I look forward to going back to this place many times to try out new things on their menu!!
