Returned to Hickory Ranch again with hesitation due to our last visit was below satisfaction. Prices that were quoted for off menu specialties were not honored when we received out check. Food quality was average. Value for money spectral poor. No intentions of returning.

Went on a Saturday for lunch with friends. Our server came over right away and he was very attentive with our party. Food arrived not long after we ordered. Everyone enjoyed their meals. They have a good selection of items for lunch, and nice that they offer a kid's menu.

I decided to go to this restaurant for a Philly Cheesesteak. I expected to get a sandwich similar to what I'd seen being eaten in Philadelphia, but what I found was there sandwhich was nothing more than some thinky sliced roast beef on a bun with extras that could be ordered. Maybe that is what is served in Philadelphia? I've never been there so I do not know, but it wasn't what I expected, several thicker slices of roast beef with some kind of melted cheese, maybe some creamed horseradish, I'm not sure what I expected, but it wasn't what they had. So I'm there and I'm hungry. They had an 8 inch pastrami on the menu, with fries and a soft drink. It was a special at $10.99, a bit more than I expected, but the pictures looked good. So I ordered it. Finally it was served. The Pastrami Sandwhich was cut in the middle with a couple of inches of (boiled?) Pastrami showing. That was a plus as it appeared they were generous with their pastrami. The fries were fairly plentiful ... other locations are frequently more generous with their fries ... and they were hot, just out of the fryer. And then I took a closer look at the 8 inch pastrami sandwich. Yes, they piled the middle very high, but there was very little pastrami at the ends of the sandwich. And the 8 inch sandwich seemed a little short, maybe being closer to 6 inches than 8. The pastrami sandwich was good ... no worse and no better than what I've eaten in other independent hamburger stands ... tasty but quite average, as were the fries. At least the fries were hot. So I'm not going to give John's Philly Steak a great grade, and I'm not going to give them a terrible grade. But I would not make this place a destination. If you are on the block and hungry, go ahead and stop, but there are better places up or down Yucaipa Blvd.
I took a group of seven friends here for dinner on a Saturday Night and we were extremely pleased with the quality and quantity of the food. The restaurant was full yet our server, Zulema did not miss a beat. Our drinks were always full and anything we requested she got for us in short order, thank you Zulema! You will not go wrong visiting Delicias for great Mexican food.
