Went for a wander on Shattuck Ave and this place appealed from the outside. Glad we went in because it had the best oysters I've eaten in America. I also loved the really fresh gazpacho. I wouldn't normally try wine from Croatia but had a great night where everything we tried was good stuff so I started to trust the menu and sure enough Croatian wine is also good stuff - who knew! The only minor downside was that the restaurant got a bit noisy as it filled up. Overall though there was a great vibe as the place filled with sun into the evening.

Visited this tapas bar-restaurant late in the evening seating around 9:45. Various items were mixed temperatures and there was an inconsistency about food. Patatas Bravas were alternately hot inside and cold, which seemed odd as the potato pieces were fairly uniformly fried. Croquettes were over priced at $3.50 each. Lamb sliders were excellent, Meatballs were very good, paella was oily and had to be sent back for refire as we asked for crunchy bottom but got nowhere near what we wanted. Sangria was made from a harsh and angular wine, so wasnât to my vinous tastes for sangria. Doesnât need to be sweet but shouldnât be this, either. Great young waiter was celebrated by staff openly for his birthday, which was appreciated by all present.

I view Casa Latina like a brick-and-mortar version of a food truck. It's not cheap, but the food quality and variety is excellent. At the same time, don't go in expecting a nice, table-service restaurant or fine dining experience. You order at the counter, and the menu is in three separate pieces pinned to a post and on the counter itself, so it might take a couple of minutes to orient yourself and decide what you want to eat while ensuring you're not missing something. The tables and chairs are... eclectic. Nothing matches, not even the drink glasses. And there are Frida Kahlo paintings everywhere on the walls. But as long as you're here for the food, you'll be satisfied. 1101 yelp reviews for 4.5 stars are definitely right on that count. Loved the pupusas and empanadas. Flautas were good but not great. I didn't actually like the Cuban sandwich, but that's a personal choice. I've been spoiled by Porto's. But we'd definitely come back here again.

All vegan Mexican food better than carnivore versions (if I remember after 30+ years). Small restaurant with outdoor tables. Line up to place your order using overhead boards. Dinner is brought to your table. (Our only slight gripe is the time it took for dinner to be ready.) Order the full plate and add taquitos, taco, tamale or other delights. We recommend choosing black beans over refried or pinto. Hot avocado salsa is definitely hot; medium salsa leaves a slight tingle on your lips. 9% discount for over 60s and service members. This is a restaurant at which you are paying for the food rather than high rent, fresh flowers or table cloths. It shows in the taste and flavors.
