Martin's is on the main thoroughfare but down the road a bit, so maybe doesn't get noticed right away. It says Italian and Mexican food but seemed to be exclusively Mexican dishes. But, boy, were they delicious! I had a chicken taco and beef tamale and the food just tasted so fresh. It was hot temperature-wise and just the right spiciness for me, an admitted sissy. In our group was also orders for taquitos, a chimichanga, a burrito, and a quesadilla. Everybody was very happy with their choices. The service was friendly and attentive, with quick refills, warnings of hot plates, and plenty of free fresh, crispy chips and salsa. Prices were reasonable and the restaurant seemed quite clean. I definitely recommend this place.

Taco Temple Morro Bay

We had great hopes for Taco Temple based on the mostly glowing reviews, but we were disappointed. Since they’re known for their tacos that was what we ordered. These looked great on the plate and were generously sized, but this turned out to be deceptive. A big pile of greens, shredded red and white cabbage, radish, etc., thinly sauced, partly concealed the relatively small portions of protein within. The protein - salmon in one case, carnitas in the other - was of good quality, and properly cooked, but the tortillas below were clearly from a package, not homemade, and were smeared with a light chipotle that added little to the overall appeal of the dish.Since the carnitas and salmon were tasty I’d give this place four for the food, were it not for the high prices, which are not justified by the quality or quantity of ingredients. They’re certainly not spending the money on anything else: decor is virtually non-existent, furniture is cheap metal, cutlery is thin, napkins are paper, and tap water is served in plastic cups.Several reviewers liked the self-serve chips and salsa, but lots of cheaper places offer the same thing with more variety. We didn’t try the rice and beans, which cost extra and look pretty standard. Overall, we feel that Taco Temple is a gimicky place, not really serving Mexican food, and giving poor value for money.

We used to love this place but not tonite. Waitress got everything wrong and failed to apologize. The manager was equally unapologetic making excuses for all staff who insulted us when we dared to complain. Food wasn’t as good as it used to be. There are other great Mexican restaurants- try one of them!I don't usually respond to these posts especially on tripadvisor but this one I will. First of all, I did nothing but apologize during our two telephone conversations. Your server that evening is one of our top people and said she did apologize more than once. She did admit she was off that night as her special needs son was home sick. Our hostess that night, who is a Special ED teacher, was taken back by you asking if "our server has ADD". That was a rude.We have the best customers in the world and we really appreciate their patronage. Many of our servers have been with us for more than a decade. We try to offer them a friendly work environment. I think it best that you do try another restaurant.

Maya Restaurant

Reviewed By SueFromWinnipeg

Like a fair number of folks, I don't like Cilantro and I'm not sure why it gets such widespread use when it destroys meals for so many people. As is usually done at every other Mexican restaurant, Maya Restaurant offers up salsa and corn chips and the lovely red sauce tastes like liquid soap. I always wonder why there isn't a choice of salsa or soap with the corn chips and help out the huge number of anti-cilantro folks.Adding a layer of detergent to your taste buds is not a good start for any meal but the high praise heard about this family operation moved us to move to bigger and hopefully better things.Ah, the better things. How about Chile Rellenos for lunch? Asking about cilantro, we were assured that there was none used in these dishes. Usually when told that none is used, it means that only a little bit is hidden in the mix to make things taste better. Maya Restaurant knows what they are doing and when they tell you that they don't use cilantro, you can believe it. And the food is fantastic. The rice, the sauce, the refried beans, the tamales, the chile rellenos all come together to create a perfect meal.Service is friendly, happy, helpful, and a great treat.Decor is beach town casual with lots of parking. Prices are about right for the location but a bit low based on the food quality. Because of that sneaky, soapy cilantro, this can't be scored as a 5 but if that noxious weed doesn't bother you, it could be solid winner when you visit.
