This is one of two places in the Avatar restaurant empire, with the other being Avatar's Punjab Burritos in Mill Valley. Their tag line is âpurveyors of ethnic confusionsâ which is pretty accurate. The Indian aspect is mostly Indian, the Mexican aspect shows up mostly as tortillas and cheese and then there are things like jerk chicken (?). Ashok, the owner, host, waiter, part time cook and floor show likes to keep things in line. I got tired just watching him for the first 15 minutes. I thought the food was good with fresh ingredients and a 4 out of 5 on my rating scale. My only annoyance was my request of 6 of 10 on the spiciness scale was apparently overruled by Ashok as I think he thought I already looked too flushed to warrant something that spicy. Not worth making a fuss over. The place is tiny so reservations are probably a good idea. If youâre into a dinner experience, they do have a few seats that channel a 60âs dinner with a view of the hard working kitchen staff.

We have eaten at sartaj multiple times in the past 2.5 years and the food has been consistently good. It's a tiny little cafe which serves home style north Indian food. We have gone for dinners and it has always been crowded. There place is a little messy and the restroom is dirty, but the food is served on clean plates and the tables are kept reasonably clean. Vegetarian as well as non vegetarian options are super delicious. The prices and quantities are reasonable, usually one thali per person. Excellent home made food taste. Only con is the place is not kept clean which might put someone off.

We were staying in San Rafael and discovered Taste of the Himalayas on Groupon. Nestled along a scenic street sits this cozy restaurant. It's a charming place with a warm and inviting atmosphere. When ordering, the waitress asked how spicy we wanted our dishes to be. To be honest, "spicy" in some restaurants do not live up to the expected heat but this place sure did! Not only was the heat to my liking, but the flavors were phenomenal. We pretty much licked our plates clean. It was kind of pricey for lunch even with a Groupon though.

Former Inner Sunset "Tasty Curry" restaurateurs. Sean (sp?) and his wife are AMAZING, so hospitable and service oriented, friendly, and run a wonderful restaurant. When they closed in SF, it was a sad time... and little did I realize my move to Marin would be followed by their move to Marin. It's in an unassuming shopping center in Marin City, and all I can say is go.....It's the best Indian / Pakistani food in the Bay Area. Maybe Northern California. A wide array of the tastiest Naan you have ever had, coupled with the best Tikki and other options.... just go, and go now.
