Reviews on Barbecue food in Camarillo, California, United States. Camarillo (/ˌkæməˈriːoʊ/ KAM-ə-REE-oh) is a city in Ventura County in the U.S. state of California. The population was 65,201 at the 2010 census, up from 57,084 at the 2000 census. The Ventura Freeway (U.S. Route 101) is the city's primary thoroughfare. Camarillo is named for Adolfo and Juan Camarillo, two of the few Californios (pre-1848 California natives of Hispanic ancestry) to preserve the city's heritage after the arrival of Anglo settlers. The railroad coast route came through in 1898 and built a station here. Adolfo Camarillo eventually employed 700 workers growing mainly lima beans. Walnuts and citrus were also grown on the ranch. Adolfo bred Camarillo White Horses in the 1920s through the 1960s and was well known for riding them, dressed in colorful Spanish attire, in parades such as the Fiesta of Santa Barbara.

We live in area and was long time ago we had dinner here. So we were all in for it to have dinner again here. What a disappointment. Meat was not good, lots of fat. French fries below any other restaurant quality. We looked at each other couldn't believe this. Way better choices in Camarillo. We will try in 10 years again.perhaps.

My first time there, but my daughter makes it a regular stop of hers when traveling between the Central California Coast and Los Angeles. I was not disappointed. We shared a chicken wrap and it was plenty for two people. Their sweet potato fries were fesh and yummy. They make good iced tea, too. Service was good. I will go again when I'm in the area. There is a separate bar area and they have TV for sports.

St. Francis BBQ is a great place for a barbecue meal, Tennessee-style. My husband and I have been going there for 15 years. He loves the chicken plate (white meat), spinach salad, and baked beans. He washes it down with a beer. I love the ownerâs macaroni salad, pulled pork sandwich, chicken sandwich, baby back ribs and cole slaw. I wash mine down with pink lemonade. The Tri-Tip looks great! Everything is made fresh on the spot. They have an outdoor barbecue pit. There are two barbecue sauces, one is mild for me, and one is spicy for my husband. The owner is originally from Tennessee. The recipes are from his uncle St. Francis Armour. The owner has continued the family tradition serving his uncleâs recipes. He is friendly and nice to all customers. He makes the restaurant feel like your eating in someoneâs home. The service is terrific! The waitress is always attentive to your needs. The restaurant is spotlessly clean. I understand they do a great take out business. St. Francis BBQ is Southern Barbecue cooking at its best!

My girlfriend definitely loves Mongolian even though I am not too much a fan. The place in Ventura which I have reviewed really is not appealing since it looks like they have put zero money into the place since the day it opened. So I figured I would see if there was another one local and this is what I found right in the heart of downtown Camarillo. It is set in a nice spot and does have some parking in their small parking lot if there is nothing on the street. When you walk in you can tell that the seating itself has been around for a while but the two cooking station areas seem to be a bit newer. I remember this place doing sushi a few years ago. The idea if you've never been is that you fix your own bowl with all the meat, veggies and sauce you would like. Then you bring it to the cooking station and the chef cooks it on this big round flat grill. He uses a big bamboo stick to swirl it around and get everything cooked. He then throws that on a plate with a scoop of white rice and voila dinner is served. The good here, this is all you can eat so you can go up more than once if you like. The price for dinner is also very reasonable. Our 2 dinner meals and a tall Sapporo was around 34 dollars. You also get soup, fried wontons that were not that great and cold and a couple pieces of flatbread. There really didn't seem to be any recognizable management and it showed in the way the hostesses/waitresses did their job (really hard to find and never really come by after we were seated). Also being our first time zero explanation was offered on how things work or pricing. Note if you don't give them a drink order right away you could be half way through your meal before you get anything. Another odd thing they have great big bottles of rooster sauce on the table, nice, but no chili paste which I thought was as odd as my waitress thought of me asking for it. The food itself was not bad but not great. It was a good and fresh meal but I will warn you make sure to use at least three to five scoops of liquid of your choice on your food if you want any kind of seasoning or flavor once it's done. If not everything is a bit on the bland side. The little area that houses all the food seemed to be restocked on a regular basis and that is also a plus. So for the overall pricing what you get is a good deal any night of the week.
