OK, I know "best" is highly subjective. However, I found this restaurant to be one of the best Mexican restaurants, certainly at the top of my list. And I love Mexican food. On a Sunday night, we were easily seated, service was prompt, Cadillac margarita good. Dined on/shared Mole Duck Enchiladas and Chicken Verde enchiladas. Both delicious, sauce good flavor, meat good!! Cilantro rice and refried beans were good and the chips freshly made. The guacamole with 2 salsas was fresh and simple. Would go back in a heartbeat if visiting Catalina again.Dear Guest,Thank you for dining with us during your visit to Catalina. I appreciate you taking the time to write a detailed review and I am thrilled Maggie's is at the top of your list of great Mexican restaurants! Thank you for your praise, it means a lot to us. I hope you had a wonderful time on the island and will indeed visit again. We look forward to welcoming you back to Maggie's and serving you some more great Mexican food. With warm regards from Catalina,Margaret and Steve Bray and our family at Maggie's Blue Rose

Mi Casita Mexican Restaurant

My family and I enjoyed our lunch at this restaurant in Avalon. My first time visiting this island and it was so pretty. The restaurant was a good choice, especially if you like Mexican food. The waitress was very helpful and the bar had everything we wished for (which has not always happened on our trip). Try it!

Coyote Joe's

Don't go here unless there isn't anyplace else in town. The food was mediocre at best. But the service was horrible and our's wasn't near as bad as the table next to us. We were seated right away on the patio, which was a nice warm and good view. Then we sat and sat and sat. Two tables across from us were waited on, got drinks, chips and salsa. We sat. Finally we did get a drink order in and it came reasonably quick. But had to ask twice more for chips and salsa. Finally got the food order in and it came in a decent amount of time. Then we sat with no acknowledgment. Never asked if we wanted a second drink or anything. I finally had to get up and go inside to pay our tab. But worse of all were the couple next to us. They ordered food and drinks. Drinks came with some chips and salsa. Then they sat. They flagged down the waiter at least three more times asking where their food was and each time he asked them what they had ordered and each time the told him again. I am not sure they had food by the time we left. If your looking for a cocktail they have a huge selection of tequilas, otherwise avoid Coyote Joe's.
