Tranquil Tea Lounge

The Tranquil Tea Lounge is located on Wilshire Avenue in downtown Fullerton’s historic Rialto Building. They describe themselves as “a modern urban tea lounge, restaurant, event venue and retail store.” According to their menu, they offer “over 95 varieties of premium and organic loose leaf teas.” In terms of food, they have a breakfast menu in the morning and serve sandwiches, salads and desserts the remainder of the day.Their teas can be ordered either hot or iced. My wife ordered the iced Happiness blend while I had the iced Makena’s Passion blend. Both are green tea-based and contain more ingredients than I care to summarize here; suffice to say that both were soothing, refreshing and pretty delightful. The egg salad and turkey sandwiches we ordered for lunch were both well-constructed and flavorful. I particularly liked the light and subtle white tea vinaigrette dressing that topped our side salads. We saw some tempting desserts being served around us, but we resisted. This is not the sort of place where you should expect to chow down on huge portions. However, this is indeed the kind of place to enjoy a relaxed and pleasant spell.

Standard "build-your-own-pizza" chain, but main difference from Pieology, Blaze, Pizza Rev, etc, is the large selection of craft beers on tap. Each of these above mentioned chains have slight variations in available ingredients, sauces, cheeses, dough, etc. - but none of the others have such a large selection of beers. I do prefer the "larger" slices of pepperoni here as compared to the other stores, yet they do not have 'ground" sausage at this Pizza Press - only sliced.. If you like this style of thin crust pizza and have not tried a Pizza Press, I would recommend giving them a try and compare to the others you may have already tried..

Rubio’s Coastal Grill is a beach-themed chain known for Baja-style fish tacos and Mexican-inspired seafood entrees. The Fullerton location can be found in the Amerige Heights Town Center on Malvern Avenue between Gilbert Street and Bastanchury Road. Being part of a sprawling shopping center, ample parking is available, particularly if you don’t mind walking a little. They have a decent-sized dining room as well as an outdoor patio for those who prefer to dine “al fresco.”One of the things I appreciate about Rubio’s is that the menu has some healthier grilled (rather than deep fried) options. Both my son and I ordered grilled fish burritos; I went for the mahi mahi while my son opted for salmon. We were both pleased with our choices. The service was friendly, prices were fair, and both the dining room and salsa bar were kept tidy. I’m fairly certain that I’ll return in the not-so-distant future!
