Find out what Contemporary restaurants to try in Napa. Gold and silver may have been behind the hordes that flocked in the 1800s, but liquid gold - Chardonnays, Cabernet Sauvignons and Pinot Noirs - is behind the modern migration. This dream destination for wine lovers has an abundance of fine restaurants and inns. Horse posts have been replaced by bike racks, and pedal power is a great way to explore.

This is in the Ox Bow Market in Napa.
Located walking distance from downtown Napa, this restaurant shares the building with several other dinning and shopping establishments. When you first walk in, you get the feeling of literally stepping into a farm kitchen with high open ceiling, exposed metal beams, and kidsâ art projects held up by magnates. There are no walls separating you from the kitchen where there the meal is prepared and thereâs an island with hanging pots and pans rounding out the feeling of being in a giant kitchen. You can elect to sit on a back patio that overlooks the river but we opted for in door seating this time. Our waiter was friendly and make recommendations on the menu, which we appreciated. While he was busy, he took the time to make small talk with us between taking our order and checking on us. Overall, the staff was friendly and prompt. As for the dining experience, it was good food with healthy portions. My friends had the pepperoni pizza and burgers with sweet potato fries. I had the chefâs special pasta dish. The sweet potato fries were good, and the pizza looked tasty as well. No one complained about the food though we did make a couple of comments on the high salt levels on some of the dishes. We also ordered a carafe of wine, which is more economical than ordering by the bottle or glass. Total between three adults: we ordered one appetizer, three main dishes, a carafe of wine, two desserts and digestives, it totaled about $174 plus tip. Overall, it was a good experience and nice place to visit.

My husband booked a reservation at La Toque restaurant. La Toque received the Michelin Star 2019. The service from the waiters, waitress and sommelier was outstanding from the time we arrived at the restaurant to paying the bill.La Toque has an innovative, an unique menu that you can select a 4-course, 5-course or 9-course dinner. The sommelier will help pair the perfect wines with each course you have selected from their menu. The chef started with offering us a mushroom appetizer, and then a roasted cauliflower with walnut purée & pomegranate appetizer. The appetizers wet our palates. Next, the waitress brought us fresh baked whole wheat sour dough bread with olive oil & balsamic. Second course, I ordered the Strawberry Gazpacho with Maine Lobster. It was delicious! They pair this course with 2017 Riesling Kabinett, Urziger Wurtzgarten, Dr. Hermann, Mosel. My husband ordered the Angus Beef Tenderloin Carpaccio with Smoky Aioli and Grilled King Trumpet. It was also delicious! Paired with 2017 Musar Jeune, Rose, Bella Valley, Lebanon. Third course, we both ordered the Rice Battered Kauai Blue Shrimp with Grilled Romaine and Bacon Tomato Sauce. Paired with 2018 Sauvignon Blanc, CEP, Hopkins Ranch, Russian River. Our palates were dancing. Fourth course, we both ordered the Milk Fed Veal Chop for two with its own Jus with corn, Chanterelles and Pickled Ramps. Paired with 2004 Merlot, Seavey, Napa Valley. The veal entree and wine was outstanding. Fifth course, I had Chocolate Moose for dessert. It was scrumptious. My husband had the Apricot Piret with Honey Sauce & Saturn Ice Cream & Almond Cake paired with a Zinfandel dessert wine from the Napa Valley. His dessert was also scrumptious. We highly recommend this restaurant. We will come back to La Toque the next time weâre visiting Napa Valley.

A beautiful outdoor lunch was enjoyed at the Restaurant at CIA Copia. It was a perfect day for eating under the covered awnings. We started with an appetizer of Wild Tartine Mushroom. Delicious. We then ordered the Copia burger as well as the Local Tombo Tuna Salad. Both were served hot and in a timely manner. A culinary delight. Highly recommend.
