Fast & friendly service. Seaweed salad is yumm. Generously seasoned. The Fishermen Roll is a good size where you can actually put a piece into your mouth as it's supposed to. The filling is slightly too salty for my taste; salmon and avocado doesn't look generous but it's still good. The grilled hamachi shoulder is simple and fresh - I would order it again. Tea and edamame are on the house. A good place to have a sushi meal - and I would definitely return to try the other rolls, sushi and sashimi.

I don't normally expect airport food to be moderately priced or especially well-prepared. The rent charged to the vendors and the long lines filled with frustrated and irritable patrons do nmot allow adequate food preparation time. Japanese sushi and traditional dishes seem to fit the bill nicely since much of the dishes can be prepared ahead of time and quickly served. Our chicken soba noodle soup and chicken teriyaki were excellent and moderately priced (that is, cheaper than most Japanese restaurants). What a nice surprise when our flight was delayed over three hours!!!

Spiral Japanese Restaurant

This is our favorite Japanese Restaurant in Bay Area (near SFO). There are so many dishes to choose from the menu. We started monk fish liver, the lamp chop, fried soft shell crab and the sweet shrimp (the head was doubly fried to be very crunchy). Rita pretty much took care of us and told us what to order whenever we came.

Leaving on an early flight from San francisco airport? Stayed close by and found a very nice japanese restaurant on a busy street with lots of strip mall restaurants. Small, very friendly , cute, nice people, returning customers. It would be a favorite in our neighborhood. Fresh food, extremely tasty. Not fancy, not for a date, but so happy to find decent food so close to airport we gave them an extra star.

Akagi Restaurant

Akagi is a simple Japanese restaurant serving bento box meals as well as sushi. There is usually a slight wait during peak hours, but several waiting seats. Ambiance is minimalistic, tables are rearranged to accommodate families and groups, and the restaurant is child-accommodating. Portions are surprisingly generous and prices are surprisingly low. The daily Shogun Box is always an excellent value with nice variety. Service is efficient and tables are turned over quickly when diners are waiting. Hard to find better quality and quantity in Japanese food for this price.

Menus are worn and show pictures of some of the dishes. Ordered #128, and enjoyed the assortment of generous pieces of fish. Also tried Dragon Roll w/shrimp tempura, avacado and eel. Well done. Small location, only eight tables. Nicely decorated. Service was a bit slow. Parking tight.

Visited this place for lunch. Each of us ordered a bento box with 2 items and a dragon roll to share. I ordered Saba shioyaki and salmon teriyaki. Food was not bad but service was very slow. When we asked for the bill, we were slammed with 18% service charge for a party of 6. No where on the menu or sign was posted saying 18% service charge would be added for a party of 6. There was NO service period. The restaurant was not busy when we arrived. Why did I need to look for the waiter to order and why did we need to look for him again to get the bill? One point for food. One point for location. Forget everything else.

The restaurant was packed with clients at 7pm. Mainly regulars ordering their specials for the day, hamachi Kama (yellow tail cheeks), sashimis’ and Omakase (10 pieces of nigiri sushi) recommended by the Chef. Tempura and special sushi rolls also popular. My Wife chose the beef teriyaki combo with spicy tuna roll. It tasted spicy! Price was mid range and the environment small but functional! Service was quick and attentive.

Aji Ichi Japanese Restaurant

Reviewed By ISwimalot

First of all, parking can be challenging for this location. The restaurant parking lot has maybe space for 5 or 6 cars at best in the rear. There was 6 of us and the entrees were brought out awkwardly at different times so the first two got their food like a good 10-15 minutes before the last of our party was served. And even then, the last two entrees were identical, yet there was a good 8 minutes between the two bento boxes. Our meals averaged around $30 apiece without drinks, but I found myself searching for a snack shortly after. Quality was good, quantity was lacking, but the service was very attentive. I know serving food is an extremely tough business; I think Aji Ichi just needs to polish up on when food is brought out to further set itself apart from other Japanese restaurants in the area.

Wonderful, authentic sushi. A warm, welcoming staff and small, meticulous space. (Not great parking but el Camino will do). Excellent sushi, wonderful hamachi Kama and chicken karage and tempura. Great wakame salad and edamame. It’s a very special place. Pricey but totally worth it.
