Each of San Francisco's unique neighborhoods has its own collective personality shaped by its residents, topography and history. This diversity is one of the great hallmarks of the city, as well as its tradition for rebellion, and both make traversing San Francisco as a visitor an intriguing adventure that provides fresh discoveries for locals as well. While half of the city’s growth during the 19th century was due to the arrival of American immigrants, the balance was due to immigration from around the world. Today, the city's neighborhoods reflect this fact with their cosmopolitan flair and distinctive character.

Went for dinner tonight and it was incredible. Really great food, great selection and you get what you expect. Thereâs a reason why theyâre busy.However..... because theyâre busy, I felt we were rushed through to clear the table for the next guests within an hour. Didnât make us feel overly appreciated for our custom. Like I said though great food and well worth the visit.

Came here because my boyfriend said it's one of his favourite places. Definitely recommend making reservations since they were quite busy on a Sunday night around 7pm. We got seated right away and the ladies here are quite efficient. The restaurant is on the smaller side and it's little cramped inside. We ordered two of their specials for the day which were the ahi tuna poke and soft shell crab. The poke was really yummy, fish was fresh and the right amount of sauce. The soft shell crab was quite different (you can literally eat the shell) and came with cold noodles. We also got scallops & sea bass. I found the fish to be very well marinated and flavourful however the noodles and green beans were a little too oily & salty for my taste. Would come back if I was in the area and would recommend since it's one of the better fusions places I've been to.

This is an extremely small place but I did not feel cramped or rushed. This place is packed but they seem to time things right as we only waited a couple of minutes for our table even after changing our reservation at the last minute. The waiter was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. The food just outstanding and the owners were delightful. It is one of the few restaurants that actually use real olive oil and it was excellent California EVOO. The wines were also excellent. Canât wait to return.

Visited last night. Restaurant wasnât too busy so didnât struggle to get a table. Service was friendly throughout. We had the crab cakes which were lovely but the mixed ceviche wasnât anything special and actually lacked quantity of fish/shellfish. Fish and chips were fresh and tasty, as were the tacos and the crab mashed potato was great too. Reasonably priced and decent food.

This tiny gem is tucked away in the Castro district, a short walk from the theater. The neighborhood almost defines San Francisco's inclusiveness and it seemed we had escaped a cross between New York and Disneyland to find real people living real lives. Arrive and write your name on the chalkboard immediately. Waits can be long, but if you're willing to sit at the counter, you won't starve before you're seated.>>>> The menu is "focussed" but inclues a classic cioppino and several fresh fish dishes. We had the Dungenous crab, it was good, but we were there in the last weeks of the season and we're betting it would have been better during the winter. The chowder-- included with the crab-- was to die for. We've spent lots of time in Boston, and this version would make a chowderhead proud.>>> Beer is drawn from four taps, but they're pretty well selected to be sure that you'll have something you like and they acompany the seafood nicely. Wine, of course, flows easily as well. ---Bob & Ellie Tupper, authors, âDrinking In the Culture, Tuppersâ Guide to Exploring Great Beers in Europe.â

It might be a simple menu - oysters, mussels and a few other options - but everything seems to have a twist that made it memorable: the herby sauce with the oysters; the squash and courgettes with the halibut. It's a friendly, welcoming place in a spectacular spot overlooking the bay.Don't be put off if there's a long queue. Th queue is there for a reason and it's worth the wait.

Friendly, professional service and excellent food. We just had two different kinds of pastas and both were absolutely delicious! We were in bit of a rush & had no time for any of the enticing appetizers or wines.

Casual, no frills, family restaurant with friendly vibe serving San Francisco classics including cioppino, sand dabs, wok crab and even a great steak. There's something for everyone!
Based on our accommodation location, I researched some well reviewed restaurants that wouldn't break the bank and Betty Lou's did not disappoint. We were dressed casually, felt relaxed through the whole meal, had a window seat overlooking the street and hand a wonderful meal and excellent service. What more could one ask for?!

Great selection of fish thatâs very well prepared. The cozy, very casual spot doesnât take reservations and the line is out the door before 5 pm opening. But while you wait once inside, they serve you free wine. A great little place thatâs been in San Francisco a long time.
