For some, a tour of the Queen Mary, docked here since its retirement in 1967, evokes waves of nostalgia for the days of the huge ocean liner with its opulent rooms, 1930s deco décor and teakwood decks. Others, particularly the younger set, are entranced by the spine-tingling haunted ship stories on the nighttime ghost tour. But for everyone, a visit to this floating hotel and museum is a must on any trip to Long Beach. At one time a less-than-appealing place to visit, Long Beach has transformed itself into an upscale tourist resort, with many waterfront attractions, including a new, state-of-the-art aquarium with a fabulous shark exhibit, two excellent art museums, charming shops, public golf courses, the annual April Grand Prix international auto race and lots of recreational activities along its eight-mile stretch of beach. Take the kids to the waterfront entertainment complex with rides and live performances or to the farming demonstrations at Rancho Los Alamitos. Feeling romantic? Cruise the canals of Naples (that's right, Naples Island in Long Beach) in a genuine Venetian gondola. One thing is for sure: tensions and stresses dissolve in this laid-back, friendly city.

Brought my wife and 3-year old to the restaurant. It feels like an upscale establishment when you arrive. We had a 6p reservation and was seated at 6:15. The hostess was not as joyful as you would expect for a restaurant of this caliber - just could have been an off day. Had a great private booth on the first floor with a nice view of downtown LB. Kudos to Zack our server he did a great job. Bartenders made an excellent martini for less than $10 and the house white wine was $7. Not bad prices. After some time we noticed we were stationed right next to a door to an event room where a private party was being held. Bad timing/placement I guess. We were consistently disturbed by the comings and goings of people who were mildly drunk making their way to the bar area. We tried not let it bother us and enjoyed the brief moments of peace we had. We came to notice this is a very popular restaurant for private events. There were many parties occurring throughout the restaurant in unison. The meal - Wife ordered pineapple fried rice with shrimp and scallops and I order the scampi and our son order the chicken fingers. All was good, not REALLY good but good enough to satisfy. With one drink each, two entrees, kids meal our bill was $105 + Tip - all in was $125. This is about the norm in the LA area for a better than average restaurant. We would not go out of our way to come here again unless we were in the same situation.....staying in a hotel right down the street - Hotel Maya. I do have one thing that especially bothered me... in the evening you are FORCED to use the valet parking at a cost of $4.50 + tip. No big deal as valet is typical at most nice establishments... I am not cheap. There is no validation if you eat at the restaurant. That really bothered me because the parking lot for 75% empty and I would have liked to park the car myself given the chance. Valet also lost my ticket and I had to identify the car in order for them to find it. Didn't feel there was any value in this service. In light of my experience there should be an option for additional self parking. They have self parking but out of 150 parking spots total only about 15 are available for self parking. Those parking spots were full prior to dinner starting and I suspect some of the spots are used by employees. The entrance to the kitchen and services areas are adjacent to the self parking area. Just a suspicion not a fact. Thank you very much for leaving your review with us! We appreciate all input, positive & negative. We wanted to clarify with you that our valet parking is complimentary. On our Valet ticket stubs it says suggested gratuity, but not mandatory. We are sorry that their was some confusion during your visit with us and we hope that you will stop by again another time! Thank you again for your input.-The Reef Management

Roe Seafood Provides Dinner Menu, Brunch, Brunch, Happy Hour, Xpress and Desserts to the Long Beach, CA area.
Before Roe Seafood restaurant opened they served all of there abbreviated menu items through Roe Express on the corner. At that time the dishes were fresh and tasty. Perfect for to-go orders or a quick bite out on the side walk. However, since they opened the full service Roe Seafood next door, it appears that their Roe Express items are taking a back seat. I recently placed a to-go order for my family. The fried oysters in the Oyster Po' Boy were a bit mushy. The Mahi Mahi tacos were dry and the blue corn tortilla was rubbery and fell apart instantly. However, the Sea Bass Fish sandwich and Cevichos were still on par with their original quality and flavor. I have not given up hope that they will soon return to their consistent excellence, but for now, I recommend taking the time to dine in the restaurant.

I sat in the outside bar, great views depending which way you are sitting you can gaze upon the Queen Mary which is cool.I had a spicy tuna roll which was the most mediocre spicy tuna roll I have ever had period. The sushi bar at our local grocery store has a better one, a much better one. I ordered a beer and ti took a long time to poor as there was so much foam. The bartender (who was great by the way) confided that the taps outside were too far away from the source, yep plus they may have blown the keg, who knows. The result was a flat beer. I looked this place up on Yelp and it got great reviews but from my brief encounter the whole experience was mediocre at best. There are a lot of places to eat near this restaurant, I would recommend trying any one of them and passing up on this establishment.i do not generally write a review if i cannot say something nice about a place but this is an exception, there has to be better choices in the immediate area.

Capturing the feel of an authentic British chowder house, complete with subway-tiled walls, tables covered with butcher block paper and a decorative tin ceiling, Chelsea Chowder House & Bar is a contemporary take on the traditional fish house. Enjoy the l
We had a lovely meal, and although it's pricey, it's the environment in which you are sitting that make the meal. The service was good, not the warmest, most friendly I've ever had, but generally speaking fine. After dinner, we took a stroll around the ship to walk off our meal (including dessert... which was the best part). It had emptied out by that point, and it was rather interesting wandering around without many people around.Hello,Thank you for sharing your dining experience at Chelsea Chowder House & Bar! The Boathouse on the Bay is a steak and seafood restaurant situated on Alamitos Bay in Long Beach and serves an array of fresh seafood, steak, sushi, sashimi, oysters and cocktails.
Great food, great service, go at happy hour and enjoy great service. $10 drink specials including wine. The presentation of $10 appetizers were great, especially the crispy calamari strips and caramelized brussel sprouts. We also had a cup of clam chowder that was perfect! Nice, efficient staff.

It's been years since we ate at Bubba's. We were there in mid-afternoon, so not too busy. The food was good, we just forgot how expensive it is to eat there. It was fine. The servers were courteous and fairly prompt. We ate outdoors as it was very pleasant outside, just had to deal with pigeons, but the servers tried their best to keep tables cleared. Overall, it was a nice place to eat. For fine dining prices, I'm not sure it's worth it, though.

My wife and come here often just to have some of their unbelievable Artichoke dip. It is to die for! But their other menu options are fantastic as well. Great place to just chill, watch the people on the bike path and enjoy the ocean breeze.

We live downtown and have eaten here at least a dozen times. We have never had a bad experience. It's our go-to restaurant for a nice meal. The ambiance is great. It's an enormous place with lots of seating, and I love all the open windows during the day when the weather is nice (which it usually is). We have never had a bad meal or bad service here. It's good every time. Oh, and the freshly baked sourdough bread will have you craving it on a regular basis. We're particularly fond of the clam chowder, the crab cakes, the fish sandwich, the shrimp platter, and the chocolate cake.

We came to lunch time by boat. This place is worth the dining experience if you're looking for great views and the bar menu definitely had a nice selection of food and drinks! The rib eye steak was cooled to perfection. You can choose to either dine indoors or outdoors. It's a stunning building, especially the exterior, and offers a full view of the Queen Mary.

The presentation is as great as the food. Our bruschetta, caprese, penne allâ arrabbiata, and salmone dorato were all excellently prepared and very delicious. Excellent Italian restaurant.
