Things to do in Hayward
Hayward Grill offers excellent combination lunches and dinners for unbelievably reasonable prices - most of them under $10. Portions are generous, and the sushi and sashimi are always fresh. The sushi roll options are pretty basic but well-executed. Service is friendly but sometimes slow, especially during busy times. The decor is nothing to write home about, but the restaurant is clean and comfortable. A great place for families and couples alike.

The ramen soups and broths were amazing, however the service needed a facelift, aside from the fact that our waiter seemed to be exhausted, which though I did feel bad for him, I didn't hve a problem with it, the demeanor in which he was talking to me and my family and how long it took for us to be served compared to other customers seemed to be a bit odd, I want to give him the benefit of the doubt that thus wasn't fueled from the color of my skin, I sue hope it's not.
This place surprises me. We didn't expect much when we came in, but we were surprised they has such a big selection of rolls and meals. Their portions are generous, the service is great and the food was delicious! I especially loves their rock-and-roll roll and their fried chicken. Price is definitely right too! Best fast food around. You also get a coupon for free gyoza or egg rolls when you spend over $25!

While serving jury duty I happened upon Naked Fish. It was ok. Huge menu with standard Japanese food. I had a bento box. The miso soup was so so. The rest of the meal was average. The floor could use a good sweeping.

This sushi place is great. The food is consistently good. They have a very good selection of sushi rolls, Their fish is always very fresh and the portions are good. They cook their chicken and fish just right. We always order chicken teriyaki, chicken katu and salmon teriyaki and they are always juicy and cooked well. My family and I always do our birthday gatherings here because this place is always serves good food for a good price with good service.

Of the 5 restaurants in downtown Hayward serving Japanese food, Wakamatsu is my favorite. It is a mom & pop shop where Joey, the sushi chef, greets you as you enter and Emiko takes your order. My favorite lunch is the Sushi Lunch Special (CA roll with sushi) and red bean ice cream. The restaurant is popular with Japanese students attending CSUEB. I also love the fried oysters - they use a tempura batter. Not only is the food very good, but the price is very reasonable.

We like to go on Saturdays as cheaper than Sunday. Good selection of sushi and chinese dishes. Lots of window seating and natural lighting which we prefer. It can be bit crowded at buffet aisle. There are very good at replenishing hot tea. Nice coquilles St. Jacques scallops.

I was staying in Hayward for two nights and felt like sushi. So I checked on a number of websites and this place came up as highly recommended on a number of reviews. From the outside it looks rather inconspicuous and nondescript. It is a rather small restaurant, which was rather crowded when I was there. Fortunately I found one spot left at the bar and enjoyed one of the best sushi meals ever for a very fair price. Regulars most probably do hate me now for posting this online as I would want to keep this secret if it was on my doorstep. However, the food is simply too good for not being enjoyed by sushi lovers around the globe.

Sushi Ichimoto is a family owned restaurant. We specialize in exquisite Japanese cuisine and providing an exceptional dinning experience to our guest. Our main focus is on the freshest sushi possible, but we do offer an assortment of traditional Japanese
We have been patrons of Ichimoto since they took over the space from Ray's. While I was sad to see Ray's go... I love the people who work at Ichimoto! They totally make the experience and make us feel like family! In addition to being open on Monday, which is often a rarity, the food is yummy and the experience is awesome!

We were a large group that had a buffet dinner in one of the private rooms. It is an interesting place with exotic interior and with a beautiful front door. The various dishes were very tasty. But I was most impressed with the servers. They were refilling our water glasses constantly, the servers were efficient and our drink ordered were quickly brought to the table. They were helpful and friendly. They worked very hard to please everybody. Good job! I plan to return and try some of the dishes on the menu.
