Orange Roll and Sushi is a four-unit chain of restaurants located in central and north Orange County. The Fullerton location is located in a strip mall anchored by a Stater Brothers supermarket on Euclid Street between Commonwealth and Chapman avenues. There is a good deal of free parking, but the restaurant itself is pretty small, so it can get crowded during peak lunch and dinner times. One of the things I like about this place is that their menu isnât limited to sushi â they also serve a variety of rice bowls, Japanese noodle soups (both ramen and udon), yakisoba (Japanese fried noodles), entrée plates, salads, sashimi, bento boxes and ice cream desserts. As for sushi, they offer a wide variety of creative rolls in the addition to the more traditional nigiri style sushi.Iâve tried several of their rolls as well as their bento boxes, and have enjoyed everything Iâve ordered. The portions are generous and the prices are fair. The service is consistently friendly and attentive. I see absolutely no reason why I wouldnât return to Orange Roll and Sushi.

NOTE: Sakura Shabu-Shabu recently changed their name to Slice Shabu. The ownership appears to be unchanged as they are using the same website address that was under the previous name. The restaurant is located in downtown Fullerton on the southwest corner of Harbor Boulevard and Wilshire Avenue. Many Asian cuisines have their version of hot pot, food prepared in a simmering pot of broth at the dining table. The Japanese version is known as âshabu-shabu,â which translates roughly to âswish-swish.â Your first time eating at a shabu shabu restaurant can be a little intimidating, but at Slice the friendly servers will patiently explain what to do with the platter of thinly sliced meats, fresh veggies and noodles when they arrive raw at your table. Basically, you cook them in the hot pot in the seasoned of your choice, dip them into ponzu, tom yum or sesame sauce and eat them with some rice. Many shabu-shabu restaurants bring boiling water to the table for cooking your food, but at Slice you have your choice of cooking broths, including kombu (kelp), miso, spicy miso, sukiyaki and tom yum. The broth in turn grows more complex with each ingredient you add to the pot. Once youâve consumed all the vegetables, meat and noodles, they bring you bowls so you can slurp down the remaining broth.TIP: Donât dump all your ingredients into the pot at a time. Add your cabbage, carrots and broccoli before any meat because they can stew in the pot longer than the rest. In fact, the meat only takes a few seconds to cook before you can pull it from the broth, dunk it in your dipping sauce and enjoy. The dining room is sleek and contemporary. It has fancy stone table tops that are fitted with individual heating stations for boiling broth. In addition to wine and beer, the bar is stocked with a pretty good selection of sake, and they also serve martinis and other mixed drinks. The meals are definitely pricey but the experience is worth it, particularly for a special occasion. We enjoyed our time at Slice Shabu and left happily stuffed.

I went with my daughter and grandchildren - and it was marvelous! We had a wide variety of food and everything was served promptly and tasted wonderful, and the cost was reasonable. The spicy edamame was really tasty - but I personally prefer regular edamame. They don't automatically salt the edamame but provide it on the side - good for those who have to restrict their salt intake! Outstanding service, too Will definitely be going back again!!

I was really impressed with Orange Roll and Sushi. It's very casual but don't let that fool you. I ordered the Sunset roll and a spicy tuna roll. First, these rolls are huge. The fish was super fresh and the rolls expertly crafted. The folks working there were very welcoming and we're quick to bring out food and to stop by to make sure things were good. I felt very welcome and my business appreciated. As mentioned earlier, it's pretty casual. A great place to eat but not really the kind of place to bring clients. Overall, highly recommended.

THE RAMEN CONTINUES TO BE EXCELLENT HOWEVER WE'VE NOTICED THE AMOUNT SERVED IN THE SMALL BOWL CONTINUES TO DECREASE WHERAS THE PRICE OF THE BILL HAS INCREASED NOTICEABLY. the shave partnered with the restaurant across from them and the little jaapanese lanterns make it very homey and nice..inside the ramen place needs tables and chairs that don;t weigh a hundred pounds each and are a bit smaller so normal americans can fit and not just paul bunyan...what were these asians thinking when they put such huge aggravating furniture in?/the patio next door was somewhat nicer however they are partnering with chomp sushi next door and the such plate we ordered was horrible...not sure if chomp bought these guys out but koan has much better food than the singles bar chomp next door..one last word..they have no clue on how to sit people fast even with a dozen empty tables they only go by a list... then they take forever to serve up a bowl of soup which is almost the only thing on the menu..one would think they continuously are making it and one just needs to fill the bowls??they need some logistic help in their biz it is obvious..but the ramen still tastes good...if the sizes continue to get smaller and their prices continue to go up threes a lot of ramen places opening up in buena park which is nice and close..

I enjoyed our big celebration here at this restaurant, with all of its wonderful authentic Japanese cuisine. He reminds me of when I lived in Japan 20 years ago. The only thing I don't like is that it's kind of loud which is OK because it kind of reminds me also have the Japanese teriyaki houses.

They certainly have a large selection of exotic rolls, and the staff is very pleasant; but we found every roll was doused in an overly sweet sauce, which detracted from the flavors of the other ingredients. The Gyoza were very tasty, as was the Garlic Edamame.

Small local place that serves really good sushi. I enjoy many of the special items of the day and always like the freshness and quality of their seafood! Chirashizushi which is a dish of various sushi on a bed of rice in a huge bowl! I love getting this because it like a sampler plate in a bowl! I haven't been disappointed with the sushi here, all has been really good. Cooked foods are limited and not their specialty. I have ordered some of their combos which are fine, but not exceptional. So if you want good sushi, this is a good place to go!

The Sushi Joint (SJ) is a good place either for lunch or diner. I usually try to go once a week and have my under $10 buck lunch. Miso Soup is really quiet good, followed with a a healthy serving of seaweed salad with an interesting slightly spicy chili vinaigrette dressing. and finishing it off with a Unagi roll, with the chef's own creation of drisseled sauce with a hint of molasses.

I used to had very similar ramen to this one in Costa Mesa, which it was my favorite one..The ramen was very very good! and the place is very fast serving. Because it is a popular place so there are always customers waiting! That's a very good sign~Only the problem for me is, Fullerton is too far to just go eat ramen.. I hope I will have another chance to be in the town so I can have the ramen again!
