Discover Restaurants offering the best Bar food in Ventura, California, United States. Ventura, officially the City of San Buenaventura, is the county seat of Ventura County, California, United States. European explorers encountered a Chumash village, referred to as Shisholop, in Ventura while traveling along the Pacific coast. The eponymous Mission San Buenaventura was founded nearby in 1782 where it benefitted from the water of the Ventura River. The town grew around the mission compound and incorporated in 1866. The development of nearby oil fields in the 1920s and the age of automobile travel created a major real estate boom during which many designated landmark buildings were constructed. The mission and these buildings are at the center of a downtown that has become a cultural, retail, and residential district and visitor destination.

The pulled pork sandwich and the garlic mashed potatoes are the best that I have ever had. The service was a bit slow on the upstart, but once I moved to the bar stool, the service improved. I had a nice conversation with the bar tender. They have a selection of drinks with bourbon and gin as their specialties. So if you are looking for some tasty pulled pork, come on by.

Hello Everyone, Thank you to our LOYALS!!! We will be back in September, same great food and atmosphere.
Yum! Lots of options on the menu here and everything we ordered was tasty. My kids liked their grilled cheese sandwiches and I enjoyed my fish tacos. Didn't go into the bar area but there seemed to be plenty of seating, and the service was quick (for how busy it was) and pretty friendly.

Winchesters Grill & Saloon is located in the heart of downtown Ventura. Winchesters is known for their high-quality steaks, chicken, and burgers, at very reasonable prices.
Casual family barbecue. The waitress was outstanding, the prices were reasonable but the Lamb Bacon Sandwich was very fatty and tough to chew. It was also very salty. I love lamb so anytime I can order it, I do. Never heard of lamb bacon before so thought I would give it a try. I also had the broccoli slaw. Didn't care for that either. I'm a big veggie eater. It was flavorless. My husband had the pulled pork sandwich, which he really enjoyed and my daughter had a hamburger which she said was very good. They also said the fries were good. I will give this place another try based on my husband and daughter's reviews. Hopefully I get luckier the 2nd time.Hello JD~Thank you for taking the time to review, it is greatly appreciated. Like you, I am a big fan of lamb, so when I saw this product at a food trade show several years ago, I had to try it. I felt a fairly traditional BLT was the best way to showcase it. I agree that it does not crisp up in the same fashion as pork bacon, which does give it a bit of a chewy consistency. I do like the flavor though. At any rate, I will thank you in advance for giving us a 2nd shot, and hopefully finding something on our menu that better suits you. Please give your husband and daughter my thanks and appreciation for their kind words. Look forward to having you all back again!Cheers,JR

Traveling by motorcycles to California with my son. We were looking forward to lunch at Wood Ranch because of previous visits. We were not disappointed. We both had tri-tip. I had a garden salad and baked beans. Everything was delicious! Our server was very friendly and prompt. We never ran out of fresh strong iced tea. I will definitely stop here again when traveling through Ventura.

Stopped in for a late dinner and beer - So many choices of wonderful beer - Pub type burgers. Service was a bit inattentative and the waiter/chef got the order wrong. Gouda cheese is not the same as pepper jack - and for someone who can't tolerate peppers....Kitchen was "closing" - no opportunity to address the problem

Had eaten at its counterpart in Santa Barbara but our dinner in Ventura ranged from fair to fair, whether the clam appetizer, the calamari, the. pasta, etc. Nothing was bad, nothing memorable. Perhaps the crowd overcame the chef for this visit.

My wife and I had a great dinner and some Guinness here. I had the brazed lamb shank and she had one of the Irish meat pies. Both were excellent as well as the service.

Anacapa has been brewing its own beers for about 20 years and theyâre still doing a great job. We recently picked a flight of five beers for tasting (enjoyed them all!) and several appetizers to eat along with the beers. The ahi tuna and onion rings were our two favorite. If you like red ales, Santa Rosa Red is especially good. If you like pale ales, get Frenchyâs Cove Saison. Very refreshing and great taste!

Thoroghly enjoyed dinner here! The beer was cold and delicious - nice selection! Try the brussels sprout appetizer - Yummy! The tri-tip melt was wonderful on that crispy bun! Service was at a nice pace - unhurried and not pushy. Will be back the next time we are in town!!!
