Reviews on Asian food in Ventura, California, United States. Ventura, officially the City of San Buenaventura, is the county seat of Ventura County, California, United States. European explorers encountered a Chumash village, referred to as Shisholop, in Ventura while traveling along the Pacific coast. The eponymous Mission San Buenaventura was founded nearby in 1782 where it benefitted from the water of the Ventura River. The town grew around the mission compound and incorporated in 1866. The development of nearby oil fields in the 1920s and the age of automobile travel created a major real estate boom during which many designated landmark buildings were constructed. The mission and these buildings are at the center of a downtown that has become a cultural, retail, and residential district and visitor destination.

I took a friend of mine out for her birthday dinner. She chose Sawasdee Thai becasue she had been there previously and enjoyed the meal very much. We both follow a plant-based diet for health reasons and asked several questions of the waitress and chef. They could not have been more patient and accommodating. They did everything we asked for including using less oil in the preparation, adding more vegetables and ordering brown rice instead of white. The food was served hot and was delicious. We we both grateful to the chef for his kindness and special care for our meals.

Stopped by recently for dinner when we were in the area for business.Nice little place close to the beach. Pleasant to sit and relaxed atmosphere.Food is good. Service from waiters can be better. It was busy when we came in but a little more attention would be nice.Overall good place though. Good quality sushi and sashimi. Will be back in the future!

Don't get me wrong, the food was perfect. However the hostess told us to wait for a table outside the door even though it was a very cold night. We were a party of three and two of us happen to be handicapped. We were happy to comply with hostess' request to wait outside. The hostess told us it would be a 45 minute wait which was no problem. As we were going outside to wait I noticed that there were several empty chairs inside the restaurant. Upon seeing this I explained that two of us are handicapped and I asked if we could have some chairs to sit down in while we waited. The hostess told us that she had no chairs. There were empty chairs all around her. It wouldn't have been much of an effort for the hostess to move three chairs outside the door for us to wait. The distance between the chairs in the restaurant and the front entrance was perhaps no more than 10 feet away. We did not enjoy being treated like second-class handicapped citizens especially since we were paying good money for the food.

This is a good sushi place, itâs not my absolute favorite but it has good fresh fish. I ordered sashimi and they were out of the Halibut even though they had it written on the Menu. Service is good. Prices are reasonable.

We love Thai food. The best we have had in in Thailand; so of course, we are always on the lookout for a local restaurant that is as good. Tipps is very close to that perfect restaurant. The food is family run and authentic. Mixed drinks are iffy, though. I stay with the Thai Iced Tea or Beer. Food is varied and traditional. Some is a little too spicy for me; so I always say that I like it mild, while my husband loves it spicy. So, while it's not The best, it's an excellent choice for good Thai food.

O-Sabi is a Japanese restaurant specializing in sushi and teppan-yaki. At our restaurant you will enjoy exceptional Japanese cuisine that is prepared for you either tableside or from our tantalizing sushi bar. Our sushi and teppan foods are always fresh,
O-Sabi has great ambiance, is family friendly and a wonderful place to celebrate a special occasion. The meal "show" at the teppan is always fun, lively and surprising. And, the food is really good too! It's an excellent value and plenty of food. Lots of options. I love this place.

Kao Ramen offers a big variety of different Ramens. You can also choose how spicy you want yours. Additionally the provide all kinds of different toppings to choose from. The restaurant is open spaced and modern. Excellent staff. We had lunch being a bigger group of friends so it took some time to get all the food to the table, but it was delicious. If you like good ramen you'll definately get yours here. The have vegetarian and vegan options, too.

The sushi was nothing outstanding, just average. Service was very good and the atmosphere nice.My main concern was seeing escolar on the menu, a lot, both as sushi and in many of the rolls. This fish can cause severe gastric distress and is often used to impersonate red snapper or other fish. But here, it is listed on the menu as what it is, so the diner is at least forewarned.Give it a shot, if you are feeling brave. Again, not great, but not awful.

There are a lot of restaurants on this stretch of Main Street in Ventura. It's the main tourist and shopping part of Main Street. I knew I wanted Thai food and RICE looked like a quiet and popular place. The service was great and the server was nice and friendly. I ordered a cup of tasty Tom Kha soup and my entrée was massaman curry with tofu. As with most Thai restaurants, there are many options for vegetarians. I can still taste the delicious savory exotic flavors of my meal. I plan to go back when I am next in Ventura. This is a popular area so prices are slightly higher than a Thai restaurant in a quieter part of time but I thought the prices were relatively comparable. The location is certainly perfect. I enjoyed sitting by the window and watching the people walk by. Delightful Thai restaurant.

My wife and I moved to Ventura County three years ago. During that time we have found a number of restaurants that are OK, but really only a couple that I would consider excellent but rarely in Ventura/Oxnard. Our search for a terrific Thai restaurant had been unsuccessful until now.I cannot begin to express our true delight at finding Rice by Mama. Not only were the dishes extremely tasty, prepared perfectly, and with the level of spice that we preferred. My wife prefers her dishes mild. Hers came with a bit of tang but no more. On the other hand, I am a knucklehead for hot spicy food. I requested mine at their highest level, very spicy. I had greatful tears running down my face. That such an extensive menu exists gives a reason to visit on many many more occasions.Thank you for being the rival of some of the best Thai restaurants in Los Angeles. We canât wait to go back.
