Exotic Flame is a small storefront restaurant. The menu is eclectic, but the Thai dishes are particularly good. Although a small simple place, it is well worth trying for flavorful dishes.
We've been going to exotic flame for a few years. It's the best Thai/PHO around. Their soups are amazing and try their spicy rice or drunken noodle, but regardless what main course you get start with an order of shrimp fresh rolls. Owner is always consistent with cooking and shows her pride when she's always there to smile and cook the food the way you ask (spice level..hot hot hot ) ha
They have lunch specials and a full menu. The food is alright, nothing special The service is great, no waiting most of the time. The food comes out hot.
They are the Longest established Chinese restaurant in Newbury Park. We go there frequently and like it. Nicely prepared and presented food...quiet and pleasant ambiance...a family owned restaurant that is very accommodating.
Their lunch specials are great value, from $6.55 - $7.95 they have many selections. Includes soup, egg roll, fried wantons and Jello. Hard to beat such value.

I went to this restaurant early on, and I'm stunned that it is still open and thriving. I found the meals I had were certainly edible and reasonably well prepared, but were pedestrian. I've had better sushi. I've had better sashimi, and traditional cooked Japanese dinners. Cost is slightly above average. I far prefer Sushi Oaks, Minato, Tomodachi (NP, WLV and especially SV---none are related by ownership, I don't believe) and the Japanese restaurant in Dos Vientos in its shopping center, if it's still there. I was last there over a year ago. Sushi Yusho is average. You may well like it. But it doesn't represent the pinnacle of what is available in Thousand Oaks.

We have been looking for good Chinese for quite a while in this area. We were thoroughly impressed with our dinner here. Everything was fresh and tasty. Our party of four had the sizzling rice soup with shrimp (really good), crispy duck (great hoisin sauce), pan fried soft noodles with shrimp, sautéed spicy green beans (fantastic) and sesame pockets (like a Chinese burrito!). We had plenty of leftovers to take home. Beers were really inexpensive ($4.50). This was our first time here and our server Daniel was fantastic. Can't wait to go back and try some of the other things on their huge menu.

We've been regulars here for years. Went at least once/week. In the past 6 months, there have been different servers every time we go. We missed our regular friendly servers, but the food was still good. Then, the menu changed with fewer items and more $$. Still OK. The last time we went it was awful. They served a scoop of glop instead of purple rice. When we sent it back, she came back with normal rice- like we wouldn't notice that it was a bowl of paste? She said it was cooked with too much water- OK, sure, but then you don't serve it. We asked for a greater proportion of vegetables to meat- less meat, more vegetables. There may have been an extra broccoli floret or 2. We got the bill; $2 for "extra broccoli". We didn't ask for extra anything. Sad to see our favorite restaurant go bad. We're not going back!

We've been coming here for years..sushi is really fresh and good. It's really hard to try any other place for sushi as it's difficult to beat Sushi Oaks. Service could be a little more attentive and it's busy on the weekend nights so that is some of the problem. However, tonight they had plenty of waitresses and service still could have been better. The kitchen is SO busy with only 3 guys so that's understandable and well worth the great food! Corkage is around 10.00 if you take your own wine so that is good as well.

We went for Dinner and had the most delightful appetizers. We ordered several apps and two rolls the rolls were good (although the Mexican roll was beyond spicy) The baked Mussels were the best I've had! Great wait staff and lovely atmosphere.

Favorite is the orange chicken, beef chow fun, shrimp fried rice and chicken chow mein. Our take out order every time to take a break from my cooking. Tried the seasonal vegetables and it was fresh and tasted sooo good. Service is quick and efficient. Always greeted by the owner as if we were family. Best Chinese restaurant in Thousand Oaks area.
