Seven food and wine friends gathered in a private room on an impromptu visit to this fav San Gabriel Valley spot. We were not disappointed. We started with a round of appetizers including 2 very savory courses: cold jelly fish salad and cold flavored pork slices that tasted rich and savory. Moved right into the Peking Duck--hoisin, shredded scallions, very sweet duck meat, and crisped duck skin -- wrapped and rolled in paper thin pancakes -- so goodAt least 7 or 8 other courses followed including truffle live lobster, crispy whole rock cod served with sweet and sour sauce (my fav besides the duck) and a very fine and savory fried rice. Service was excellent--helpful and attentive without being intrusive. Oh yes we brought and opened 7 or 8 bottles of fine wine that complemented our food, including rose champagne, 2 high end Chardonnays plus a Chassagne-Montrachet, several reds--pinot noirs and syrahs, and for dessert/palate cleanser a half bottle of 1985 German Eiswein. All in twas an excellent dining experience.

This is one of my family's favorite places to eat dimsum. It's served in carts and the service is quite good. The dimsum selection is quite extensive and you can also order from the menu. My parents like the "imperial" decor and it's cleaner and better lit than many Chinese restaurants

Our group of four arrived at 11am on a Thursday. Underground parking was easy and there was no waiting to be seated in the large restaurant. Escalator and elevator are available to take you from the garage. I really liked the atmosphere because conversation was easy even as customers started to fill the restaurant. Unusual dishes like Osmanthus Pudding are available. The service was good. Given a choice though, I would not drive from central Orange County to eat here due to traffic and distance. The typical dim sum dishes are no better than in many other closer places (Irvine).

It was a very different surprise for me. The way the hot pot cooks is similar to the pho, but the water comes to boiling at your table in a special cook top. You have choices of broth and ingredients. there are clear instructions on the place mat. We ordered too many ingredients to make our sea food and mushrooms and vegetables pot! The oysters boiled that way are just marvelous. Scallops and calamari also very good. Watch out, they get very hot and can burn your mouth! Because we ordered too much stuff, the price was $45 for 2. Worth it!

We had to arrive at 4:30 pm to get a table for an early dinner on Mother’s Day. No reservations accepted. Parking is very crowded in the lot but they have valet parking. There is also parking on the streets if lucky to find one. We had a party of six and ordered the Family Dinner for $54 which included 5 dishes - House Seafood Soup or Sweet and Sour Soup, Clams with Hot Spicy Sauce, Kung Pao Chicken, Sauted Pea Sprout, and a Steamed Whole Fish (Tilapia). Our main dish was the Newport Special Lobster (market price). A medium lobster was sufficient for our party of six. Everything was fresh and delicious! The lobster was all gone but we took the spicy lobster sauce and leftover rice home to make a fried rice dish tomorrow. This was a very good value for a lobster dinner! In a per person basis, each person cost approximately $50, including tip.

Excellent choice for Dim Sum in the San Gabriel Valley. It's an orderly affair (as you order from a menu) rather than by carts passing by. But it still has a very authentic feel. The dim sum is excellent, with a good variety.

Went with some locals who said it was good and affordable. Like many authentic dim sum places it is super loud. If you are native and don’t speak Chinese, be prepared for an adventure. The cart ladies are pushy (pun intended) and aggressively try to convince you that you want what is on their cart, even if you have a lot on your table already. Getting a glass of water takes an act of Congress and you know how well they are doing these days. If you ask what a particular food item is, be prepared for an answer that doesn’t make a lot of sense. They have a picture menu on the table that you can point to things on which is a good safety net. It was a surprisingly good price for a decent amount of food. Be aware, during a busy lunch rush, it can look like a hurricane came through in the bathrooms.

This restaurant is a little hard to find but it’s worth the trouble locating it with Google Maps as the Chinese cuisines served here are uncompromisingly authentic ie not westernized - very much like those corner eateries in Asia. The Chinese cuisines served seem to be a mixture of Cantonese and Shanghainese and really delicious. Moreover the portions were really generous. The stir fries dishes and the fried rice were full of ‘wok hei’ (鑊氣). We were pleasantly delighted with the xiao long bao (小籠包) which could give Din Tai Fung a run for their money. We were fortunate to get here before 6 pm as it got really crowded after that. It’s a best kept secret among the residences here in Monterey Park.

From coast to coast, the dim sum are very similar. I always wish restaurants would be more creative. I was very pleased with the dim sum here. There are so many different selections in addition to the traditional ones. Everything was delicious. The service was great. The waiter always checking my teapot. Empty dishes were removed promptly. This is one of the best dim sum restaurant I have ever been to. I wished I had a bigger stomach so I can try more things. Thumbs up!
