It is located along U.S. Route 395 in the Indian Wells Valley in northeastern Kern County, adjacent to the Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake (NAWS, or China Lake). The population was 27,616 at the 2010 census, up from 24,927 at the 2000 census. It was incorporated as a city in 1963.

John's Pizza used to be THE eating out place to go in Ridgecrest. John has moved on. He now runs a successful chain called John's Incredible Pizza. So far, it hasn't significantly gotten better. But it may take some time. And I'm pulling for it to get better. Better lightning. Lighter, happier colors. Some remodeling. And work on getting the recipes wired in the slimmed down menu (thank goodness!) Also seems pricy for Ridgecrest. However, with the fun factory down for fixing now, I'm saving serious dough from not having to fund grandson fun.

Nice restaurant but the meals are very fat compared to other fast foods or dinners.French fries are excellent !

I've eaten here at least a dozen times, mainly when I'm with other people and this is where they want to come. It never sparkles with cleanliness, service is generally marginal, food is OK, but nothing to brag about. It's run by a Hispanic family, but their Juevos Rancheros is the worst I've ever had. OK, tortilla, little beans, a fried egg with a scoop of canned salsa from New York City........ I ask about where's the Ranchera sauce, and I get the deer in the head light look. I've yet to get my steak even close to what I ask for. Every time I go, i'm reminded why I should not. Lot's of better places in town!!

Service was slow, but the food and drinks were great! I had the artichoke chicken for dinner which was tasty and surprisingly good. It came with a salad and sides too.

My husband and I eat here often for lots of coffee and traditional breakfast, low cost so you can go often! My fav is the frittata, then the biscuits and gravy if you aren't on a diet.

We enjoyed our meal at Ale's very much when passing through RIdgecrest. The food is excellent and well priced and the menu offers a lot of choices. The only reasons for not giving 5 stars is because they do not take reservations for two people and the staff, although giving good service, tended to rush us through our drinks and meal.

Weâd had a long day driving to Ridgecrest and needed to find a restaurant quickly as it was getting late. We walked in and were greeted warmly. We have a need for gluten free and the manager came to see us. Not only was the menu adapted for us but he organised for the chef to clean down the grill during busy service so that our food would not be contaminated. We all ate well but we were in particular so grateful for the hospitality and outstanding care for our needs. Best wishes and thank you for looking after us.

Our lunch at Kristy's was ok, to be honest we experienced better diners during our trip, but sandwiches were ok, not too good but not bad either. On the other hand, Ridgecrest is one of the last pieces of "civilized" world before getting into the desert area surrounding the Death Valley, so if it's lunch or dinner time and you are around, don't hesitate to stop by.
