My spouse and I went out for Easter "Dunch", and it was great! He ordered the BLTA, which came on toasted sourdough bread, a bit too buttered for his taste, but the bacon was thick and not fatty, and the avocado pieces were big. He had the side of sweet potato planks, which have gone up since our last visit in November ($2.75 extra), but still were good, tho too much salt. I ordered the Hula Hog Taco, under the small eats, and they aren't small (this is a positive statement). Delicious sauce - chipoltle, and the flour tortillas were hand sized and there was oodles of pork, and I was full after eating it. We also ordered a Beer flight, 5 choices, and what fun and what a great way to taste some of the beer. Their choices in all are about 16 or so, so 5 x 4oz gives a good variety. We tried the Kino Hefe from Crooked Lane, the West Coast Wheat from Napa Smith -both of these were light beers, not bitter, and not strong tastes, but good, the Danish Red Lager from Figueroa Mountain - very good!, the Gneiss Stout from Solid Ground - tastes like a Rauch Beer from Germany, very smokey! and then the Old Town Brown from Auburn Alehouse, my favorite! not too strong, but a very nice taste and not too much alcohol. Emily was our server, and did a nice job, was sincerely friendly.

Hog Wild serves the best BBQ I've had since leaving the Lone Star State, where I lived for 4 years back in the '70's. The brisket was fork tender and deliciously smokey; the ribs were fall-off-the-bone with a delicious sweet-spicy crust. Servings are generous. Don't order the three-meat meal unless you're REALLY HUNGRY.

Serving American Fusion Cuisine
The food is very good. The ambience is bar like, and leaves something to be desired. The patio is much nicer than inside the restaurant itself. We had the Niciose salad, which was very good with fresh, sushi grade tuna.
Shoestring had amazing food and service. Hamburgers were 100% beef. The new place Red Rooster, don't get my business again. Walked in and waited to be acknowledged at the counter almost 5 minutes. I asked the fat percent in burger... 28%. But then they weren't sure. Then waited over 20 to get 2 hamburgers and fries, and for $7 the burger was a very thin single patty, overcooked, 2 small scraps of lettuce, not even s full tomato, and dry bun.Don't bother. Miss Shoestring.

We stopped at the Old Town Grill for lunch. It was very tasty and the place was friendly. We had the round hot dog and butternut squash soup. Both were very good. This grill blends in very well with the atmosphere of Placerville.

We've now visited Sweetie Pie's a couple of times. I like to review after visiting more than once if possible. Sweetie Pie's is small and popular, so unless you're early, expect to wait. The wait is always tolerable though and on our Sunday visit at 10:30 am it was crowded and we still got a table in about 15 minutes. The servers are friendly and helpful. We even asked questions about which stores to shop in downtown and the servers were all very helpful and gave suggestions. It was like we had a tour guide. Now the food always seems good and there is plenty of it. I had a Rancho Omelet with country potatoes and cinnamon raisin toast. You get two very thick pieces of toast whatever bread you order. And because Sweetie Pie's is also a bakery, you can take home a pie or loaf of specialty bread of your choice. The only thing someone else might think weird, but doesn't bother me, you have to get up and get your own coffee. But it's unlimited and there's plenty of good coffee and condiments to customize your brew.

First, let me say the waiter we had was terrific. You can tell he takes his position seriously. That said, he had a terrific sense of humor. The wine list is quite nice and reasonable. We absolutely adored the appetizers we had. They were creative and delicious. Our main courses were a little less creative, but quite good. We will definitely be back to this restaurant when we are in or passing through Placerville!

I eat here every time I'm in town. The pizza is awesome and made fresh. I have not had anything else on the menu so I cannot review. The atmosphere is nice. Seating is outside and if the weather is hot, it can be a little uncomfortable. There are some misters which helps a lot. The employees are extremely friendly.

We were passing through Coloma the other day and we stopped at The Argonaut for a latte. It was excellent and hit the spot!

Dinners at Cafe' Mahjaic are New American, a mixture of all ethnic backgrounds. All foods, sauces and breads made from scratch daily using naturally raise meats and grains. Fresh fish from the ocean. Organic produce when available.
The wonderful, rustic ambiance of Cafe Mahjaic really sets the tone for a wonderful dinner to come. The menu has enticing choices, but it is hard to go wrong choosing their 4 course prix fixe menu. There are 4 offerings within each course, and it is hard to choose as everything sounds tempting. The portions are slightly smaller than off the regular menu, so the amount of food from 4 courses is about perfect. And the prix fixe dinner is $35. What a great value! If we had to offer constructive criticism, our group all agreed that the kitchen is a bit heavy handed with the garlic. We all love garlic but it has to be balanced to the dish.Looking forward to returning!
