Find out what American restaurants to try in Idyllwild. A small town in the heart of the San Jacinto Mountains, Idyllwild is the perfect escape from Southern California traffic and the bustle of modern life. The big draw is San Jacinto National Park, where you can explore more than 50 trails. Rent bikes in town for a leisurely ride on a flat trail, or if you prefer, choose more rugged terrain. Rock climbers can scale Tahquitz rock. For those less experienced, sign up for rock-climbing school or try bouldering on the smaller rocks.
A hike through many of the forest trails will take you by mountain streams and lead you to peaks with views of the Coachella Valley below and, on clearer days, the Salton Sea hundreds of miles away. Idyllwild is small enough that wherever you stay, you’ll be close to nature. Head to town to browse local shops and restaurants.

Idyology is good times with amazing fried chicken! I loved the outdoor seating at night all lit up with dream catchers everywhere. The chicken was delicious with the most interesting orange slaw with homemade mash, incredible flavors! My Mom had the shrimp cocktail and salad and she also loved her choices. We will definitely be back for some more great food & live music!

3 of us had lunch and all loved our meals: tacos, macro bowl, and beet burger. Plus the golden turmeric milk and hot cocoa so yummy. Highly recommend.

We visited this wine shop during a weekend get away. They had a good selection of wine and I loved that we could just order a bottle instead of paying by the glass for our group of four people. We didn't order any food, but we really enjoyed the live music and the venue. The music and wine were great, and we could just walk back to our cabin from this location. Would definitely visit again.

Fine handcrafted beer and exceptional fare.
This is a great new venue in this quaint town. We pass through this area every year after hiking on the Pacific Crest Trail, and it was a wonderful new discovery. The pub was crowded, even in the middle of the afternoon. They have a large variety of local beer. The appetizers were tasty, too.

Ate dinner at the Lumber Mill tonight. Itâs not fancy, but for standard bar fare, itâs pretty good. The menu is mainly focused on a variety of burgers, but it also has salads, sandwiches, chicken wings, steaks and ribs. We had a burger and buffalo chicken wings. Both were very tasty. Service was good.

Swiss-infused American diner . This one-of-a-kind restaurant offers a wide range of menu options, from omelettes to birchermuesli, burgers to sennen rosti, beef stroganoff to chicken curry, and beyond. With weekly lunch specials, a beloved Sunday breakfas
We always take a drive up to Idyllwild when we visit Palm Springs. As Cafe Aroma is closed, we decided to try Tommy's Kitchen.....and are glad we did. Tigger was our server and made our lunch very enjoyable with both her personality and her excellent service.Deb had the Vegetarian Rosti and I the Sennen Rosti. Both were EXCELLENT with a generous serving.of each, she even asked how we would like our eggs served. I am a Bread Pudding aficionado and had to try Tommy's "Swiss" version. Wow! A very different presentation but really tasty and enjoyable. All in all, we were very pleased with our stop at Tommy's Kitchen and it is now included in our list of dining places whenever we are in Palm Springs. .

Called ahead to make dinner reservations (as online reservations aren't an option). The staff was very helpful on the phone, as well as when I arrived in town several weeks later to confirm my reservation. There is extensive seating both indoors and out.I began my meal with a perfectly prepared gin martini - followed by a wedge salad that was very good. As for the entree, I was undecided between a couple of steak options or the pork chops. The waitstaff highly recommended the pork chop and guaranteed it would not be dry. It was, indeed, delicious. However, it does have a sauce that it kind of swims in, so if that's not your style perhaps you should pass or order the sauce on the side. There are many options on the menu. I hope I have the opportunity to return to Idyllwild again soon so I can try something else at this restaurant.

Diner/Cafe open 7 am to 2 pm daily. Breakfast and Lunch. Omelettes, Sandwiches, Pies, Soups and Salads! Casual mountain dining, home-style food, friendly service.
To paraphrase a song from the 60's "You can get anything you want ....... at the Red Kettle"They have a wide selection of breakfast items: egg combos, benedicts, scrambles and omelets. There are also usually specials of the day posted on a white board. I opted for the California Omelet (tomatoes, jack cheese and avocado). Service is "over the top friendly" ........ if you are friendly. You'll find tourists and locals here. And if you sit at the counter, you might make a new friend.By the way - I'm not sure why this restaurant is called JC's Red Kettle here. It's been through various variations of "Red Kettles" and now I believe is just called The Red Kettle. To further confuse the issue, their website URL implies it is now Perry's Red Kettle - go figure!

TripAdvisor's #1 Rated Restaurant in Idyllwild for 2014 Working in tandem with amazing culinary talent, some of which have gone on to The Culinary Institute of America at Hyde Park, NY and Le Cordon Bleu, the Aroma kitchen team uses classic recipes infuse
Nicely situated with large interior and patio dinning areas. Friendly staff. Fairly large menu. The organic salad look great but not very tasty. The vegan risotto also looked delicious with mushrooms and other vegetables. But unfortunately lacked taste. Could not add enough salt and pepper. We happen to notice the couple at the table next to us also adding salt multiple times to their dish. Overall a little disappointing.

I opted for the California Omelet. Everywhere you go, this omelet is prepared a bit differently. The version here at Mile High is full of bacon - with swiss cheese, onions, avocado and tomato in addition. The staff seemed open to substituting ingredients and sides that are included with the menu items. The orange juice is hand-pressed and delicious. It's also a bit pricey - but you get what you pay for.FYI - the cafe is not right in the "city center" of Idyllwild, so you'll probably have to drive there unless you're staying in a nearby cabin.
