Trillium is a restaurant and inn. We think of ourselves as casual fine dining, with indoor and outdoor dining, weather permitting. We focus on serving fresh, seasonal, organic California cuisine. We try to source as many things locally as possible. Local,

My friend and I enjoyed lunch here very much. I would order the Avocado Toast next time. The gal next to me had it and I was so jealous. The service was great and we were able to get right in on a week day without reservations. Trillium was recommended by several people and they were right. The only thing missing is the Ocean View and I will take great food over that any day!

You are met at the door with a glass of Champagne. Sorry, Sparkling wine. The table seats twelve and is very cozy. The four courses were varied and paired with local wines. All delicious. A foodies paradise. I had the trout from Mt Shasta. Could be the best I ever had. My wife had the pork loin.It was tasty but a little salty.Michael the Chef came out after the meal and joined us in conversation on the dinner he had prepared. I would not miss this place if you are in the area.

One might not expect a deli to have an amazing wine selection, but this place does. the local wineries are well represented and the prices are reasonable. The deli makes incredible sandwiches, and offers a wide selection.

Like others, we were at Heritage House so we went there for dinner. Turned out to be a genuinely wonderful restaurant. I’d recommend it to anyone staying in the area. We had one dinner there and two breakfasts. I’d have done our second dinner there but we wanted to try a highly rated place that was in town and not as good. Service great and view magnificent, but the food stands alone. Tip: portions are generous, we split an app, a tomato salad, and a pasta, they were all wonderful and it was plenty of food.

Since we stayed a week in the campground adjacent to the Cafe we knew we would eat here at least once during our stay. The Hostess, Becka, greeted us during our campground check-in. She is so bubbly and effervescent we were compelled to walk back for lunch right after setting up our RV!! We are glad we did!! Nearly everything is made in the cafe, including all of their baked goods!! Our lunch of burgers and a French Dip were sublime. It looks like a typical, little "cafe-in-a-campground" from the outside, but far exceeds such expectations as soon as you walk in the door. I would recommend this as a destination dining stop, not just an adjunct to the campground.

We ordered the seared Scallops and a Snapper dish. The Scallop dish was surrounded by green peas and a bed of herbed orzo. The peas were so fresh yet crunchy, and the scallops amazingly tasty. Truly hats off to the Chef!! The Server (an elderly man) even gave us a small box of the chef's fudge since we didn't have room for dessert that night. Oh, and yes, we even enjoyed a sea view from our table at the window. We will definitely return on our next trip to the Mendocino coast.

I just love Wild Fish. We dined there tonight and enjoyed oysters on the half shell, excellently prepared fish with lovely locally grown vegetables, very good local wines paired with each course, and shared the sticky toffee pudding. The chef really knows fish. They have added service people who do a very good job. Dining at Wild Fish alone justifies a trip to Mendocino or Little River.

The cottage where the restaurant is located has lovely views from many of the tables. There are birds galore to watch in the garden around the cottage. The food was excellent. Fabulous rosemary potatoes with many of the offerings. The chef really knows how to cook eggs right too. Pleasant service, although very languid. Not a place to go to in a rush. :-)

A great place for a meal while on the North Coast. Located just of the highway in the Albion area, a diverse menu with a focus on seafood provides a choice for everyone. All our courses such as tomato and onion tart, beet salad, cassoulet, and pesto gnocchi were delicious. Bread, baked on site, is exquisite. You can even buy loaves to take home. The staff is attentive to your needs, even when they are busy. The bar area offers sweeping views of the Pacific and makes it worth showing up early to take it all in. Plenty of parking above the restaurant. Definitely worth trying. Cheers!

Albion River Inn Restaurant

We fell in love with Mendocino eight years ago and returned this year to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. This was our first meal at Albion. I chose it because of the positive reviews and for tables at a window for the marvelous view of the sea. I made reservations for 5 p.m. (Window seating can be guaranteed only for 5 and 5:15 reservations.) I made the reservation through Open Door, then confirmed it by phone to ask for a window table and informed them of our anniversary celebration. We had the best table in the house (in the northwest corner). Staff was friendly, attentive, and wished us a happy anniversary. My wife had the macaroni and cheese as an appetizer, whitefish, and the Meyer Lemon and Honey Cheesecake for dessert. She said each dish was excellent. I had the Point Reyes Blue Cheese Salad, the New York strip sirloin, and the chocolate raspberry cake. All but the steak were fine. I ordered the steak medium rare. It came out medium. It was hard to chew and not the melt-in-your mouth quality we should expect from a prime cut for $40. Under other circumstances, I would have sent it back, but 1) I did not want to put a negative vibe on our celebration and 2) It would have meant waiting another 10-15 minutes for my meal. The demi-glace on the steak was delicious, and the sides -- glazed carrots, mashed potatoes, and sauteed green beans -- were excellent. Our desserts were fabulous. The bread served with the meal -- small slices of soft white bread with crust -- was unremarkable. I was hoping for something more upscale, such as french or multi grain rolls. The coffee was a disaster -- tepid, watery with little to no flavor. To note: a small bar is located in the corner of the dining room. Happy Hour is between 5 and 6. On the evening we were there, a group of 4 or 5 people came to the bar to take full advantage of the reduced prices. Things got a little noisy. Because of the disappointing steak, bread and coffee -- especially the mortal sin of botching what should have been a superior steak -- I am tempted to give the Albion only 3 stars, but I will give it 4 because, by and large, the evening went well.
