Villa Espada CAIBARIEN is a hostel located in the center of town, 200 meters from the Plaza Mayor (around which the offer of shops, cafes, restaurants, CADECA, ATM, museums, etc. is structured. It is just 100 meters from the stop (piquera) for collective taxis. The house has the option of hiring its own private taxi. As you know, Caibarien is the last town before entering the highway that circulates 40 kilometers through the sea, until you reach Cayo Santa Maria (a true Caribbean tropical paradise).
There are two separate rooms available upstairs from where the wonderful hosts, Ivonne and Ramon, live. Each has en-suite bathrooms and have air conditioning. There are superb private roof terraces and even a small pool. You can barbecue up there too if you catch or buy fish locally. Breakfast is excellent with fresh tropical juices and fresh fruit, bread/toast and cheese and meats and fresh omelette or eggs made to order. A great start to your day. Ivonne and Ramon and very friendly and welcoming hosts and the villa is a tranquil haven to relax in. They don't speak much English but with an open mind and good will they'll help you find your way around to the best of their knowledge and ability. A great place to stay if you want to get out to the Cayos and not pay the crazy tourist prices there. Highly recommended.

I stayed with my boyfriend from Nov 15-22, 2018. Virginia, Yosviel ( her son) are great hosts. The room was comfortable with a very large bathroom. A window a/c unit and fan provide plenty of cooling and air circulation. Each morning there was hot water. Each night we'd let her know we wanted hot water, and it was turned on. We only waited 10 minutes. I have several friends in Caibarien and found this casa was ideally situated. The breakfasts were excellent, plentiful with bread, jam or honey, a sandwich with salami, tomato and cheese, and eggs prepared how you like. I love coffee with milk. Therexwas always a thermos of fresh coffee and a teapot with warm milk, and fresh papaya, guava or pineapple juice. A plate of seasonal fruits included a variation of papaya, pineapple, banana, guava. And Virginia only uses bottled water. Overall, I'd recommend this casa. The staff are family. They're friendly and welcoming ...an excellent representation of Cuban warmth and hospitality.

We are a couple that moved to Cuba, to work and live in this beautiful country. Me and my husband are from Cuba and from Germany, so we speak Spanish, German, French and English. Our professions are geologist and biologist. We offer you two indepedent rooms, each with a private bathroom. One room has access to a big terrace and the other one a private swimming pool and a view till the sea.

Accommodation: The house is a modern building built in 2011. It is situated in spacious grounds overlooking the sea. It has 3 bedrooms, one with separate bathroom. Both bathrooms have hot water. The house has a capacity of 7 people and upon request can be installed a spare bed to take two more people. The construction is of very good quality. The bathrooms and kitchen countertops are marble and fittings are high quality Italian. Common zones: The house has a very spacious dining room decorated with antique furniture of precious woods. The kitchen is very modern with marble and black granite ceramic hob. It has a large terrace overlooking the sea and garden around. From the garden you have direct access to the sea to enjoy the tranquil waters of Caibarien. The pool measures 3 x 9 m and have nice oceanwiews. The garden features coconut trees to enjoy a delicious coconut water. It also has a plant soursop, custard apples and several Mangos. In the garden there is a Palapa or ranch for enjoy beautiful meals and dinners overlooking the sea. The house has an outdoor laundry with new washing machine available to guests.
Travelling with 10 and 12 year old children we wanted self catering and somewhere near to the northern islands. The Villa was ideal, the children enjoyed the pool and having the housekeeper Babi on hand was perfect for organising our taxi rides north to the beautiful Cayo's. Getting about Caibarien the town was a great Cuban experience we went to the market and got simple food to cook back at the Villa. However, we found Restaurant la familia which had excellent Cuban food (see my review). We enjoyed numerous beautiful sunrises at the end of the spacious garden

I have stayed in this amazing home at least 10 times and I have no idea why I have never written a review. Everything about this place is great. The rooms are perfect size and always so clean. You have the option of 1 bed or 2, there is air conditioning in all rooms, mini bar that is stocked with beer, pop and water in each room and a TV. (not many channels though, but who needs TV when your staying right on the sea wall in Cuba???) Also every room has a clean, big shower. The food that they cook is BY FAR my favourtie in this city. Always so fresh and so much to choose from. I took a few pictures that I will attach. For what your getting the price of food is good too! The set up on property is so peaceful. Rocking chairs to have your morning coffee with a paper and a beautiful wall of singing birds. Indoor dining room for your breakfast is clean and so nice. Sit on the balcony and watch the streets of cuba and the perfect view of the ocean while you sip your rum.... perfection. I did see that someone commented about Robe being rude and arrogant.... this confuses me because he is one of the nicest men I have ever met running a hostal in cuba. Always helpful, wants to be sure you are fed and comfortable and he is always willing to go the extra mile to be sure your stay is perfect. The only thing I can think of is that he speaks very little english and he may have been taken the wrong way. all of the staff on property are beautiful peaople and all so friendly. This place is worth seeing. I have been to so many places in this city and it is by far the cleanest nicest most welcoming hostal there is. I have brought my children, my family and my friends here and they all feel the same way.
