We had the pleasure to stay a night at Kuntur Wassi before our hike in the Colca Canyon. The rooms were comfortable and the breakfast was extensive. The best thing about Kuntur Wassi is their hospitality. The owners and staff are very nice, we could store our luggage for free, we were allowed to take a shower after we returned from our hike and the family even offered us transportation to Chivay. Thank you very much for everything!

Follow the path around the left side of the bullring. After 5 more minutes you will see a lookout point perched on the edge of the canyon. Then just follow the main path (which will at times zig-zag down), cross the Colca River and follow the road uphill until you come to a pathway leading to the left. Then you will find an other bridge - cross the Huaruro River, and 5 minutes later you will see the entrance to Llahuar Lodge. Look for the hot springs. Most people will take 3 to 5 hours from Cabanaconde to Llahuar.
Hot springs were great and price quality ratio for the room was ok. However, the service was horrible. The lady at the reception clearly didn’t like her job as she was constantly grumpy and she spoke/understood not 1 word English. The streetdogs were very aggresive and while we were sitting at the table they started fighting underneath our table and biting etc. We did not receive 1 “are you ok” or anything, they were just laughing. There was no concern for our safety and they made very little effort to make us enjoy our stay.

We stayed for one night at Ludwig’s hostel before hiking to Lluhuar lodge in the Colca Canyon. Rooms are simple but good. Shower with hot water. We had an excellent breakfast at his mothers place, just two blocks away, because the hostel’s restaurant is currently under construction. Upon request sandwiches for lunch are provided to take on your hike. Ludwig helped us planning our hike in the Colca Canyon which was really great! He and his wife made their own map of the Canyon with helpful information. We felt good prepared for the quite challenging hike. We could leave our luggage at the hostel for the night. For the next day Ludwig arranged a taxi for us from Lluhuar lodge to Chivay. Make sure to take cash as there is no ATM in Cabanaconde or the Colca Canyon.

This place if full of charm and beauty. Located in a pristine area of the Colca Canyon with beautiful views of the valley below. Greenery and flowers are everywhere you turn and you can see that so much love and hard work have helped create this magical place as it exudes positive energy and pure delight. The food was delicious and the views while you enjoy your meals are extraordinary.

La casa de Santiago is located 5 hours from the city of Arequipa, and is only 15 min. from condor cross in the village of Cabanaconde. La casa de Santiago is an intimate place that fits perfectly into its natural surroundings. La Casa de Santiago has a beautiful garden with views of pre-Incan terraces and the Andean peaks that form the Colca Canyon. What our guests most love is the sensation of being surrounded by nature.La casa de Santiago is a mountain lodge with bungalows with view of the mountain and Garden. Our hotel has 200 square meters of garden and patio for relaxing - lodge style.Transfer Service and hot water 24 hours. We have the best trek´s map for Colca Canyon.
We stayed 3 nights and loved it. The rooms are nice--great beds, linens, hot shower, a heater (we did not need it in November), and even a hair dryer. Our upstairs room had a nice view and the breakfast was nice. The hotel is at the top of the trail that leads to Sangalle and other canyon villages. We hiked every day, all day and loved our time there. In town we ate at several restaurants where locals eat and never paid more than 9 soles for a cena completa (soup, entree with rice and vegetables, and a mug of mate). The hotel has wifi in the common area if you need it. We had a car rental that we parked on the street in front of the hotel and it was fine for the 4 days we were there. The manager was very nice and was helpful with information on the area.

Our Hotel has rooms with private bathroom, restaurant service, internet and above all it is located in the most quiet place on the planet .... Cabanaconde
No heating at all, of any kind! I really got frozen... The overall look is quite shabby: you can overcome this (at least you have hot water) but it is definitely too cold not to provide an electric heater in the room. Meals are very very basic. I do not know if better alternatives exist in the village but I would say ok if you are equipped and stay only 1 night.

The place itself is ok but the service is horror, especially from the owner, who: ⁃ Didn’t want to give me a room with private bathroom, because I couldn’t share my room with anyone (our tour group had an uneven number). Hence, I was the only one that had to use the outside bathroom, which is a 5-minute walk, and only had cold water in the shower; ⁃ The vegetarian meals are really light, just a few cooked vegetables. When I asked for some extra rice because I needed a heavier meal, especially after a hike of 6 hours, the owner didn’t want to give this; ⁃ 3 times (!) the owner didn’t give enough change back at the bar. After correcting him, he finally did; ⁃ Staff members where taking pictures of us and the girls in their bikinis when we were using the pool. We don’t know why and if it had a (non-personal) reason, but it would be nice to ask beforehand. It made the girls uncomfortable to use the pool. MAKE SURE THAT YOU GET WHAT YOU PAID FOR & BE AWARE OF YOUR MONEY

It is a new local, all the rooms are in a excellent conditions, it's a perfect place to rest, the breakfast is enough to start the trekking.
We stayed there before and after going to the Colca Canyon. Our room before going to the canyon was acceptable but the one we got on the return had no windows to the outside and only one pointing to the lounge. The manager's husband watched TV till late and we could not sleep because of the noice. There was also NO hot water the first night. On our return we complained and the woman (manager??) was so rude to us and shouted at us. She also do not know how to operate the card machine.I will not recommend this place because of the attitude of the manager, and the fact that there was no hot water.

We had a really warm welcome at this place. Manfred picked us up by car when we arrived by bus in Cobanaconde and made food for us. He was very kind. He helped us with the tour to Colca Canyon, which we did with Sebastian (a very helpful and nice tourguide). Also nice rooms with a good and hot shower. We really recommend this place.
