Garden Deli is hidden under the cool shade of its trademark weeping willow tree on Burnsville's historic Town Square. We offer a lush garden setting for outside dining either under our tree, or under a covered deck 6 months out of the year. We also offer a full-size dining room inside with natural wood walls, hand-made lanterns, and oil paintings of local landscapes. We have a fireplace and a cozy atmosphere during the colder months, as we are open year-round.
We were riding through several small towns in the area, enjoying the mountain views and were glad to find this wonderful restaurant. The word deli doesn’t really describe their dinner menu. My husband had a steak that he said was very tender and perfectly seasoned. It included 2 sides and bread and was only $13.95. My roast beef sandwich was piled really high and was very moist and tasty. The place was packed but service was still personable and quick. The menu is interesting and has a good variety. Prices range range from $8 to $20.

I love to stop and get a mocha from time to time. I was pleasantly surprised when they offered me a sample of one of their sweet breads that it was good. I assumed it would be dry and tasteless, I don't know why...Anyway, stop by for a drink.

My daughter loved this place! 50-60s atmosphere. Lots of candy/treats to pick from per pound. Small choice of ice cream, but okay. I tried two flavors. Good quality, but I wouldn't get either again. Definitely get the waffle cone as it was good! The counter lady seemed to be just 'doing her job'. Nice to have this funky shop in this small town.

Appalachian Java offers Breakfast on Saturdays 8:00am til 11:00am, Lunch Monday thru Saturday 11:00am til 2:00pm, Pastries, specialty coffees, as well as regular decaf, flavored, house and dark roast coffee.
Had a meeting there a couple of weeks ago. The upstairs houses a large room with sofa's and tables and chairs. With a good cup of coffee and somewhere with a great atmosphere to carry on business the place is a winner. They also have a great selection of food and a wide variety of different coffees at at good price. And of course FREE wifi.

Fine Southern Cuisine
We stopped in spontaneously to kill some time, had breakfast for lunch since it was the day before thanksgiving and they were closing early. We had a large group with lots of little kids. The staff was very accommodating and pleasant. The food was delicious. They served complimentary cinnamon rolls that the kids went wild over.

Snap Dragon is a nautically themed gastropub located on Burnsville's historic town square honoring Burnsville's namesake, Captain Otway Burns and his heroic efforts aboard his ship, Snap Dragon, during the war of 1812. We have a full service bar featuring North Carolina craft beer, wine, and craft cocktails. Our burgers, hotdogs, spring rolls, and meatballs are made from local ingredients as well as our salads and other items. We are open year-round and strive to be Burnsville's favorite local tavern.
Where the Garden deli next door is a restaurant with beer and wine, the Snap Dragon is more of a bar with food. The food is good, the burger I had was well cooked and came with really good fries. My wife had the lamb burger sliders which were absolutely amazing. A good selection of local beers adds up to all you could want for an evening in a place with really nice ambiance and décor. Service was prompt and efficient - we will be back !

They have a nice selection of snacks (pre-packed from bulk), soups, spices, baking products and grains. There are...MoreWe appreciate your review. Can't go wrong with a steak here. The beef had a great flavor. The grilled onions were delish. The potato skins made a yummy appetizer to share. No alcohol served here, so bring the kiddos and enjoy the hometown vibe.

This little restaurant is situated almost at the peak of Mt. Mitchell. We planned to eat here and then go watch the sunset on Mt. Mitchell. To be honest I wasn't expecting much, and my expectations were totally exceeded. The special we got was a popular country item and it was cooked well and tasted great. The service was also great, and the other employees we spoke with were all super nice! If your going to Mt. Mitchell save time by eating here on the way up or down!

My family and I ate here recently after spending a few hours at Mt. Mitchell. This isn't anything fancy, so temper your expectations before visiting. That being said, the food is decent. I had a bowl of chili and a grilled pimiento cheese sandwich. The chili is what you'd expect - a decent bowl of chili. It won't win any chili cook offs, but it was good. The sandwich was nice too - again, nothing fancy, but it provided sustenance.
The real draw is the view, however there's only 4 or 5 tables that are next to the window and they were all taken when we got there so we sat in the middle.
Bottom line is this - if you're on Mt. Mitchell and you're hungry, the restaurant will satisfy your hunger. If you're not hungry, you're not really missing anything if you skip it.
