After living in Germany for many years, this little restaurant was a unique find but disappointing. The apple sauce was not homemade, they had no German beer, but the decorations were very true. She had homemade bread instead of brotchen. We went once but don't plan on going back.

Our server was outstanding, and the food portions were phenomenally large. The quality of the food was excellent with fresh ingredients. Very cool atmosphere. The prices were quite reasonable. Our only complaint, and this is minor, is that the was that the menu was overly extensive and they would benefit by paring it down.
This restaurant would thrive in a large city so it was surprising to see it in little Buckhannon.

Picked up a dozen doughnuts and a half-dozen pepperoni rolls at the drive-thru. The attendant was extremely helpful. If you are not familiar with pepperoni rolls, they are a West Virginia specialty. They are usually made with stick or sliced pepperoni, cheese or no cheese, and sometimes with sauce. The traditional, and the kind I make at home are just a sweet bread roll land stick pepperoni. The Donut Shop is the only place I know that makes them with ground pepperoni. They were great! The donuts were good, but the pepperoni rolls are a must have.

Like many other chains, this DQ gives you just what you want and it's even better on a hot day. We all ordered something different - cones, dipped cones, sundae, blizzard - all were great!
There is seating on both sides of the restaurant, but you may have to contend with one of two "homeless" guys that hang around between here and CJ Maggie's a few doors away.
This is a charming old school DQ in a charming town.

WOW! I lived in Buckhannon nearly 50 years ago. A friend recommended this as a place to pick up a couple of sandwiches to take out to Audra. Great selection of fresh-made sandwiches from local sourced products. Great home-made breads and cookies!
I'll make a point on stopping here in my future annual visits.

Visited October 15th, and had a great time!
I know you're going to laugh, but I love their Mexican Rice. The Chicken Chimi I had was tasty, great price for the portion, and I enjoyed it very much!
The wait staff were on point and brought menu, drinks, tortilla chips, and main dish very very swiftly.
Much improved from the last time I visited the restaurant.

88 Restaurant and Lounge is a fresh, full service, upbeat space conducive to good times and great eats. Our menus feature a blend of classic regional fare and creatively prepared specialties that include great homemade soups, a nice selection of cheeses, a number of fun salads, delicious sandwiches and pastas, yummy seafood and steaks- AND LITERALLY THE BEST BURGER IN TOWN!!! Also, don’t forget to save room for our fabulous homemade desserts!
The menu was extensive and had a good range of options. I was surprised to find Nashville prices for the steak options in Buckhannon, but maybe this was because of its location in the Bicentennial Inn. The restaurant had bar seating and a proper dining area for larger parties.
I had the flatiron steak which was average, as were the sides for the price of over 20 bucks. The one unique thing was the "Stinky Fries" appetizer which were very good. They are fries with garlic infused in them, hence the name.
I think if you want bar food fare, it's great. If you are looking for a meal for a special occasion, you may want to look elsewhere.

first time visit at this restaurant because friend said it was better than the one's in our town. I definitely don't agree.we have 4 in my town and if it was here it would be at best 4th out of 5. descent salsa to start out with and crisp fresh chips. I as usual ordered guacamole to start. they bring a lightly green colored blob and wondered why it was so light colored. if you like sour cream you will like it. I don't. it was 90 sour cream and had no flavor never again would I order that and thought it was the worst guacamole I ever had. I ordered steak fajita as a meal. the meat was seasoned well and they serve a large portion. rice and beans were sub par in flavor and no seasoning. all portions are descent and most there food seem average. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again but if your in Buckhannon it is a choice. the server was sweet and kept our drinks full and was attentive.
