Captain Cook Caravan Park is located in the heart of Bruny Island, Adventure Bay, Tasmania. The park offers powered and unpowered sites, on-site caravans, cabins and one bedroom villas. It is located across the road from the popular Adventure Bay Beach near the general store and is close to the award winning Bruny Island Charters cruise.
This is the only caravan park on the island and is in a great beachside location and is 3 min away from the Pennicott boat tour. The park was quiet as it was off season, but the layout is unusual as the permeant cabins are spread all through the park and a lot of them are run down. They have two covered outdoor BBQ and a large Enclosed camp kitchen that also has a pot belly wood stove. Great short stay for the convenience of the boat launch.

We stayed in the one bedroom Oyster Catcher cottage up on the hill overlooking the bay. Large well equipped lounge, similar kitchen, smallish bathroom and bedroom. Great wood burner keeps the place toasty on a cold night. Big decks with great views. Furniture is a bit tired and knocked around, but good bed. Everything you need for a short stay.

The spa bath was great, especially after a day doing the Pennicott Tour, to thaw you out. The cottage is modern inside and fully equipped. We highly recommend Adventure Bay Retreat.

We instantly fell in love with Bruny Island, and staying at 43 Degrees Bruny made it extra special. Want to know why? The studio suites are tastefully decorated, quiet, private, only 5 units in the compound, wallabies and rabbits come to visit at night, the sound of waves makes it more romantic.. it’s just bliss! We received a nice bottle of Tassie red wine in the room on arrival and breakfast the next morning was simple but delicious. It consisted of a freshly baked bread roll, selection of jams and yoghurt. Breakfast is delivered outside your studio between 8 and 8:30am. There is a small kitchenette in the room and a gas BBQ on the deck which was clean and works perfectly.free bottle of wine too, which was really nice. Oh, we loved the spa bath too! Communication with the hosts was efficient and accurate. Room clean. Love that there were no kids on the property. Tips.. wake up early and watch the sunrise from Adventure Beach (less than 5 mins walk away). Bring a nice steak from the mainland for the BBQ. Prepare to take the rubbish with you. Go and find the white wallabies. Make it a point to return one day ;)

Launched in April 2019 and overlooking picturesque Quarantine Bay, guests simply love the atmosphere we have created with our luxurious eco-Pods: Flying Duck and Blue Wren. These self-contained Pods feature quality appliances and sustainable Tasmanian timber fittings - a perfect base from which to explore Bruny Island. Fabulous location looking out onto Quarantine Bay. Amazing wildlife we saw paddy melons, betongs, wallabies, many birds species and even a solo chicken . Lots of space, well laid out and thoughtful inclusions. If we ever get back to Bruny which I really hope we do we will definitely be back.

Country cottage accommodation situated at "Inala", a 1,500 acre private nature conservation reserve near Cloudy Bay beach and the South Bruny National Park on Bruny Island Tasmania. Birds and wildlife abound on the beautiful property, which is world-renowned as a birdwatching destination. The two self-contained cottages on the property each have fully-equipped kitchen and laundry facilities, internet access, TV/DVD and outside BBQ areas. Staying at Inala is far more than just relaxing in a lovely cottage, you also get full access to the private Conservation Reserve which is full of bird hides, birding platforms and walking tracks through rich nature habitat for wildlife viewing or exploring. Access to the Inala Nature Museum & Jurassic Garden is also included in your stay. The Museum showcases minerals, fossils and shells from around the world, whilst the garden demonstrates the floristic links that existed between the southern continents, that were united in the Gondwana supercontinent, during the Jurassic period, many millions of years ago. Guided birdwatching and nature tours of Inala, Bruny and Tasmania led by specialist nature guides are also available at an additional charge. (bookings essential, see the inala nature tours website)
My daughter and I had a lovely 2 nights at Inala while we explored Bruny Island. The cottage was perfect. Comfortable beds, spacious, warm and a lovely breakfast. Having a spa bath was just what we needed after a long day of hiking and being able to wash/dry clothes was something we missed at other places. The peace and quiet of being on the reserve was just what we needed and not having WIFI or phone service meant we could take a proper break from work for once!! Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again. For international visitors, it would be a perfect place to see wallabies and some of our native birds up close!!

Beautiful cottages, very modern and well laid out. The four cottages are set so that you have lovely unobstructed views and the small cottages feel large and spacious- all very intentional. Fully stocked kitchen and bathroom, large bedrooms, and plenty of living space indoors (couch, dining) to include a large deck with seating for outdoor dining. There is a shared bbq pavilion that has seating and tools, oil, and cleaning supplies. This is probably the best place to stay on Bruny!

Th we cabins were a bit underwhelming. Location was good but the actual cabins had a few issues. Even though we checked in at the hotel well past the check in time cleaners had only just started which meant that we had to find something to do for the next hour or so… no mean feat on Bruny where everything is at least 20 kms away. The actual cabin was satisfactory although the shower door leaked, vertical blinds broken ( who would have them anyway in this century!), cutlery missing and basic kitchen utensils provided but considering this is a ‘foodie’ destination should have been a bit better outfitted! The laundry appliances did not seem to work properly. The cabins look new but everything else seemed a bit old.

We spent two days and nights on Bruny Island, both nights spent at The Alonnah. Its a fantastic place to stay, the room is very spacious, the view from your window overlooking the water is to die for. It gets better at breakfast time when you have the choice of a home made Salmon or Trout Quiche. Luckily over the two days we stayed we were able to sample both! Our hosts Ken and Shirley were very welcoming and happy to advise on places to go and see and things to do. We cannot wait to go back again.
