Reviewed By MichelleAM3As we arrived early in the morning our rooms weren’t ready but we were able to leave our bags in luggage storage and head straight into Phantasialand. Had the day in the park and then checked into the hotel. Our room was amazing, spacious so romantic with small Tilly lamps by the bedside and four poster bed with netting drapes. Huge bathroom all african themed, we really did feel it was very immersive. We then went to the hotel restaurant for our evening meal and the service was very good and an excellent variety of food choices. The bar area was a lovely place to relax after a full day in the park and a lovely meal. I would definitely recommend this hotel to couples and families and we will be staying again the next time we visit Phantasialand.

Reviewed By Casper2131We had reserved Hotel Matamba, checking in on the 26th of May, but upon arrival that night we were told it was over-booked and offered Hotel Ling Bao instead. A shaky start, but upon checking in at Ling Bao we were impressed with the young woman who greeted us there. She got us checked in quickly and even gave us some fast passes for the attractions at the park. That's excellent customer service. The rooms are a good size- not real big, but certainly not cramped in any way, and good quality furnishings. Comfortable bed, and our 21 year old son enjoyed the bunkbed. The bathroom was nice as well- plenty of room and well appointed. It would be nice if a coffee maker and small fridge had been included in the room, but it certainly isn't a huge issue or enough to detract a star- just be aware of this. The hotel grounds are fantastic. I saw a review that picked at the "authenticity" of the design of the hotel and the grounds. To each their own, but I found it to be very well done and loved the lush vegetation, water features, and lighting in the courtyard area, accompanied by a number of places to sit and relax. The food was good- we had a buffet for both dinner and breakfast. The selection was good and the food, while not gourmet, was good as well. The location, assuming you're going to the park, is perfection. We simply walked out through the courtyard and we were in the park, ready to enjoy our day. And what a great theme park, by the way. Overall, we were very happy with our stay and found the service to be outstanding. Good customer service can be difficult to find these days, but we were quite happy with those we met with at the hotel. We highly recommend staying.

Reviewed By Isabelle1111111111We were really unhappy about our stay. We booked 2 rooms for the weekend, Cologne and New York (family room). Both of our rooms were really filthy. New York was not vacuumed and there was dust en dirt everywhere. We found empty bottles from previous guests in the shower. There were empty wrappers and candles on our terras. The room was a family room (4people) with a kitchenette. In the kitchenette we found 1 knive, 1 spoon, 2 glasses and 2 coffee mugs… in a room for four people??? Also, the dishwasher was not emptied upon our arrival. The other room, Cologne, wasn’t any better. The floor was filthy, there was fungus in the shower and there were poop-stains on the toilet seat !! Upon arrival 1 cushion for the bed lay on the terras. We will won’t be returning ever again!

Reviewed By JEMDRAll the personnel is very polite and attentive. They don't speak very well English but they'll do the necessary to help you. Breakfast is varied with several juices, scrambled eggs, bacon, enough fruit, different breads and guys coffee. And open from a convenient 6 am. Room is big, very clean, with enough sockets, heating is good, location is in a small village at 30 min by train of Collgone, comfortable wardrobe, hot bathroom. It does not have restaurant but the hotel is beside the city center with some good rests. Price is not high compared around.

Perfect location
Reviewed By Carsten SI stopped here with my kids in between a 2 day Phantasialand visit and thoroughly enjoyed it. Staff was friendly and very helpful. Room was clean and good quality beds for a comfortable sleep. Breakfast was ready as arranged with fresh rolls and a selection of cheese and meat toppings. The hard boiled eggs were a little overcooked and started to color around the joke already but that was not really an issue. In the rooms we had issues with the remotes not working and the sheet on the bed just covering the mattress (which turned up completely curled up after a night) so you ended up laying on the bare mattress in the morning. Overall one ok experience and for the price and the location you can´t complain. It wasn´t very good but it was better then average, so that rating is because of tripadvisors choices available.

An interesting alternative
Reviewed By waymolesVery modern and very clean. Simple room layouts but plenty of space, especially in the rooms with a kitchenette. A simple small kitchen area makes this an interesting alternative to more conventional hotels, because although there are plenty of restaurants within two minutes walk, it’s also possible to prepare a basic meal for yourself if you don’t want to go out. It’s worth knowing that, because there’s no restaurant on the premises, there’s also no breakfast - but there are cafés within a short walk. The staff are not present all the time, but when they are, they’re extremely helpful.
