A really cool hostel just a 10 min walk away from the middle of Bruges. We got a warm welcome from the staff and the room was clean, if a bit sparse - but that was expected! The only (very!) few issues we had were: - with the duvets we found in the room’s cupboard, as there were a couple of stains on one. It had, in all likelihood, been washed but it might be an idea to take damaged bedding out of circulation, as it can be off-putting. - the room’s temperature was tricky to control; the radiator was on, so we turned it down. Room was still warm by the evening so we opened a window to sleep. Woke up chilly, got out the duvet (see above) - it would have been good to have a couple of extra towels to dry the bathroom floor with (or a bath mat) - the shower door allowed a fair amount of water through. It’s worth saying that we didn’t highlight any of the above to staff, as we were only there for a couple of days and the problems were easily mitigated. I’m in no doubt that they’d have fixed anything that was really bothering us. The positives far outweigh the negatives, in any case. The atmosphere in the evenings was lovely to sit amongst downstairs in the bar, and there were always tables and chairs available for chilling out after a day’s hard sightseeing. The decor’s great, and I liked that they had little potted plants everywhere. Everyone there is there to have a good time, and it really gets you into the adventurey spirit. The breakfast, too, was perfect. Lots of bits and pieces to choose from, it was constantly replenished and it set us up for the day. All-in-all, don’t think you could get better in Bruges for the price! Thanks for having us!

I used this visit as a recce for my groups bike ride in May ??, no way would they enjoy this place and took the opportunity to find ( very quickly) better and friendly hostel close by. Herdersbrug hostel is located next to the Boudewijn canal, 5km away from Bruges and 6km from Zeebrugge. All rooms at the hostel have en-suite, and facilities include a large dining room, TV room, laundry facilities, Internet access, free breakfast and a conference room for up to 50 people. There is also a bar and terrace overlooking the Boudewijn canal. This Bruges hostel is the perfect starting point to take a stroll along the beautiful canal or jump on your bike and discover the many cycle routes. It's also part of a rowing club and includes a fitness room with six rowing machines - rowing clubs are welcome to use the training facilities on request. Herdersbrug has rooms for 4 or 6 persons. All rooms can also be booked as single or double room. Then an extra rate is being charged. Herdersbrug is located in Dudzele. Dudzele is 5 km away from Bruges, 10 km away from Knokke-Heist and Zeebrugge. Blankenberge is also very closeby. To reach us from the train station, take bus 41 or 42. Ask the busdriver to stop at 'Dudzele Dorp'. From here there's a 10 min walk to the hostel.
Great site if a little industrial. Nice staff. Clean and pleasant. Good breakfast and good ambiance. Lovely river views. Shower a little slippy and needing overhauled. I prefer the option to self-cater in a hostel as I have dietary restrictions, and the cycle parking for overnight could be improved!

Unique quiet situation, very near (walking distance) the old town centre, station, AZ hospital, shopping street and congress center. Large private and free car-park (very important for Bruges!). Special rates for meetings, seminars and repeat guests. Member of the Logis Of Belgium (3 Fireplaces). Member of the Quality Control Belgium. Member of "Chateaux Hotels". Family hotel service.
The worst experience 1. The non-existent welcome, a non-enthusiastic hotelier, giving the impression that the customers are seriously too much for him, not a little advise for the visit of Bruges, no sense of humor...a prison door, he is just there to collect easy money. 2. The prices: We accept that we were staying in high season and that the rates are fluctuating in function of the demand....so we knew it beforehand...no discussion. But now... 3. The product, the hotel is old fashioned and worn, the lighting is in line with the environment. NO CLEANING OF THE ROOM BECAUSE OF COVID??? 4. Breakfast nothing special...inexpensive products from the local supermarket, labels are the proof. 5. Aggressive and rude attitude of the inkeeper when I explained him our disappointment, i SPOKE OF EASY MONEY..no cleaning of the rooms? He treated me of a liar and asked me to leave his place immediately. 6. As I was traveling by bicycle and my departure was taking a little too long, a rude waiter came to ask me if he could help me to get out faster? Conclusion: The worst experience in a (so called 3* hotel)

Location was perfect, bed super comfy and owner was absolutely fantastic, knowledgeable and helpful. Really loved our stay. It would have been great to have a kettle in the room. Ear plugs are in the reception which are needed after 7am due to delivery's.... would definitely return... with a travel kettle lol
