We were staying at a hotel in an area unfamiliar to us and I asked someone parking their car where any restaurants were located. He mentioned the street on which Santa Fe Grill is located and the choices weren't many so we went to Santa Fe. What a delightful surprise. The food was fabulous! And reasonably priced. The accompaniments to the shrimp enchilada (pico de gallo, guacamole, rice and beans) were all fresh and well prepared. And the shrimp enchiladas with tomatillo sauce were delicious, filled with corn, spinach, onions etc as well as the tasty grilled shrimp. While Santa Fe is a bar and restaurant it was perfectly suited for a family dining experience. Staff was friendly and attentive, but the star of the experience was the food. Parking of course was the biggest concern as it is New York and parking is always hard to find, but my husband found something on a side street. The area in which the restaurant is located is probably not to everyone's taste as it is slightly run down, but we didn't have any issues on the two nights we spent at the Rhodeway Inn nearby. P.S. try a coconut mojito from the bar, I had never had one but the server suggested it and it was very yummy. One of our party also ordered the fried ice cream which was rated as terrific and came beautifully presented.

I really enjoyed the food and decor at this restaurant. They are kind of understaffed but the food is way worth it. They give you lots of food and GOOD FOOD at it! Have returned and continue to go back when I want Mexican

Never really a fan of Mexican food, maybe because I never really tried it. At the urging of my whole family, kids and grandkids, we had dinner here one night a few weeks ago. I was very surprised that I liked it! I had a big salad with loads of stuff, guacamole and pieces of beef. It was delicious! Everyone loved what they ordered and the place was packed. I have been back twice, both times for takeout, ordering different things because I could not remember my original order and the menu is pretty big. Both takeouts were pretty delicious. I don't know what the non-kosher Mexican food experience is, but this kosher one is pretty good.

Very good Mexican (which is hard to find in NYC) with nicely prepared, fresh options. Very large menu so easy to find a favorite. Service is attentive and accommodating. Space is pretty typical for this type of place with the usual Latin touches. Sangria was especially good...not too sweet. Very good value

It looks like a Chinese take out spot. Only has 3 tables and they are very close to each other. The food was good. Ordered the nachos and it was enough for two people. The food was flavorful which is a plus but this is more for take out than actually trying to sit there and dine.
