Reviews on Canadian food in Galiano Island, British Columbia, Canada. A 40 minute direct ferry ride from the Tsawwassen ferry terminal, Galiano Island is a fabulous day trip destination for those seeking a taste of the Gulf Islands. From the spectacular white shell midden beaches at Montague Harbour, to the sandstone caves at Dionisio Point, to the art galleries and bohemian culture and shops at Sturdies Bay, this island's a wonderful place to explore for those looking to get away from the hustle and bustle. Note that the island is rather hilly and destinations are spread out. Having a car is recommended.

It was the matriarchâs birthday and a dozen of us took her to dinner. The food, wine and ambience were all lovely. The restaurant was surprisingly crowded for mid week, so reservations are a good idea. My lobster bisque was a creamy delight. The pasta with a side of grilled prawns was delicious. Well worth the price, which for such a large group was surprisingly reasonable. Service was good. Plenty of choices if you are not a meat eater and even more if you are.

Visiting friends on Galiano.... where to eat? .... friends recommend Hummingbird PubA VERY nice set-up with a large outside dining patio. We ordered some kind of fish burger..... the burger was fabulous! But WHAT is this fries OR salad business. I thought that finally went extinct in the 90s! NO, it still exists here. For the prices you charge, at least have the decency to give people fries AND salad! Especially since the fries here really are no culinary accomplishment.I was astonished at the high price for the moderate food and drink we consumed. And the waitress seemed upset that I didn't tip 20% for mediocre service.Overall: a good incentive to try somewhere else.

We tried lunch at several places on Galiano and this was definitely a favorite. It has a great, quirky/casual "hole in the wall" ambience. If you are not a local you'll have to look for it, though it's in a central meeting place - directly across from the market on Georgeson Bay Road. It also has limited hours; as of this review Wed-Sat (I believe) 11:30-2 pm, though drive by to check their chalkboard. The staff/cooks were friendly and ambience was casual/charming. Though an earlier reviewer mentions lack of seating there are now a number of quite comfortable outdoor tables with cover from the weather/sun. We had no trouble finding a seat; they even provided magazines while you wait. The menu is short but the food was eclectic, fresh, and delicious. My husband and I both ordered the bison burger which was juicy and came with good quality veggies and tasty sauce on it; sides of potato wedges and coleslaw. I could also have eaten anything else on the menu, which included a daily soup, veggie burger, rice bowl, and an Indian veggie wrap. I liked many of the places we ate on Galiano just fine but this stands out as one I wish I had gotten to visit more than once.

We were looking forward to the wood-fired pizza on the deck, but were disappointed with the quality. The Happy Hour special (Pizza, salad for $15) seemed like a good deal, but the pizza was just mediocre. Too bad. This is a nice place, with great ambience and views, but they need to up their game when it comes to food. We were underwhelmed with breakfast as well - not bad- just not outstanding. If you're looking for a casual meal is a very quiet, relaxing setting (no view), try the little Solomon Rose set in a lovely garden next to the Thai place. Excellent food, drinks and ambience.

Great family atmosphere. Amazing NEW LOCATION! Offering a wide arrangement of food selection for all ages. All day breakfast served. Large portions, made fresh to order. High quality hormone free and prescription free Canadian meat, and fresh produce used
Same place, new management. Scoops moved up the road into the old Burrill Bros Building. Still a good choice for Breakfast and WiFi. Menu has shortened to just breakfast sandwiches and eggs benny in the morning. Gone are the morning glory muffins but self serve coffee stays. Of course ice cream and candy is now an option.Understand they donât have a live music license either. Maybe with time. Bummer!

Seasonal seaside dining at the Montague Harbour Marina. Fish tacos, sandwiches, salads and more! BC wine, craft beer on tap and delicious cocktails!
We dropped in for lunch on a sunny day, enjoying the lovely view of the harbour and boating activities from our patio table. Good beer on tap. My husband's cod tacos were good, and my salmon chowder was delicous. Our server was delightful. We will be back.

Ordered 2 takeaway pizzas and experienced great customer service over the phone. They were ready on the stipulated time and were delectable. We're chose this as a back up as the Pizza Terrace is only open for lunch. Not wood fired but still darn good pizzas. Crust may be whole wheat... and their marinara sauce was to die for.
