Being an amateur cook and foodie, I both cook and seek quality Chinese food. I have eaten Chinese cuisine in San Francisco, London England, Toronto, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Macau, Thailand, and Burma. I have found that every restaurant has its specialties and access to premium meat and fresh vegetables. this is the case with the Dining Wok. I have only eaten there once and found the experience uninspiring. The vegetables were a little overcooked and lacked the crisp snap of al dente bok choy and gai lan. The seafood chow mein was average but a bit salty. The ginger chicken was a little bland without a distinctive ginger tang. The servers were friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was pleasant. I may return but there are many preferred restaurants in my point of view.

Food is only average, typical of the type of restaurant. they have cut the portions smaller for the past year. You call in, for pickup and they are always too busy to accommodate in regular season. We got lips tonight as they were too busy to take an order from the local market. Will serve them well in the winter when there are no one on the beach in middle of the rain season.

We just got back from dinner at this restaurant. It was our first time there; we believe it recently was purchased by new owners. Well, it was so good that I promised myself I would come straight home and write a review. I'm not Chinese, but I'm far from being a "pineapple chicken balls" type of white guy...I love my Sczechuan, I love my Dim Sum, etc. Without a doubt, this was the best Chinese food I've had in years...a true gourmet experience. All this was capped off with exceptional, friendly service in a spotlessly clean and attractive room. We'll be back.

Returning home from the Semiahmoo Rod & Run Club we decided to take the longer but scenic route back to Richmond. Along Marine Drive we spied the Beijing Restaurant and decided to enjoy our evening meal there. We ordered hot and sour soup, salt and pepper squid, green beans with minced meat, beef brisket with lo bak (white radish) and of course rice. Our meal was nicely prepared and arrived in a timely fashion.

Okay, let's get this out of the way: CCTV stands for Canada China Tsingtao Vancouver. There!We ordered three items for lunch, our first meal here. Our favorite dish was a beef noodle dish that we liked a lot even though the dish we were served bore no resemblance to the picture in the pictorial menu. The noodles were exceptional. However we weren't crazy about the kung pao chicken, whose base sauce was a tangy sweet-sour. I realize there's no one right way on that dish, but this was definitely a downside surprise. We do not like, and would have never ordered, a sweet-sour dish. Pork-chive dumplings were great, and there were so many we shared them with the gentlemen at the next table!One warning: they apparently don't heat the restaurant. It was actually a little uncomfortable dining in our parkas.

Not a meal to write home about.Our lunch experience yesterday in White Rock BC @ Penang Szechuan was weak.Tired staff.Limp tasteless cuisine, the hot n sour soup was NEITHER hot or sour, but slimy sickly sweet and worst I've ever tasted.Curry chicken carelessly stir fried ? raw cold white onion unbalanced curry spices over tired rice, barely edible as were hungry (but hardly enjoyable.)Going through the motions staff was in 'gotta catcha plane' mode trying to get outta there.No one inquired whether food was okay....a dead give away when it ISN'T in our experience.I spent 5 months in Penang Malaysia in the 1990's.THIs restaurant with the NAME of that world class foodie destination, PENANG, was a poor attempt at humour in our opinions.Lacking PASSION. lacking flavour. weak performance.Going through the motions...hurry up and eat and leave attitude rates 1.5 generously rounded up to 2 circles, as we did consume more than half of the tired offering.
