Things to do in Surrey

We went out looking for a good breakfast yesterday and decided on Coast Country Diner located in Cloverdale. The place was packed and a line up to get in. The staff were very efficient in getting everyone seated as soon as possible. We only had to wait only 10 minutes. My wife and I ordered breakfast. I had the Big Country breakfast which was awesome! 3 eggs, ham, sausage patties, bacon, chunky hashbrowns and toast. What more could you ask for. My wife had french toast with blueberries and whipping cream and a side of bacon that looked to be about 10 pieces. We both left happy and full. The prices are reasonable, especially for what you get! The place is old but clean, the staff kind and quick! Whats not to like!

Itâs been a number of years since my last visit to Angelinaâs Dutch Corner but theyâve recently moved into a new location at the River Market at the Quay. Iâve got to admit that I like their new digs⦠much more open, airy, and bright compared to their last location. The only bad thing here is that the noise inside the restaurant seems to echo and amplify making for a loud din.On this first revisit, I decided to get The Big Bennie ($17) which comes with bacon, sausage, ham, and turkey bacon along with a generous fruit bowl. For my poached eggs, I asked for medium (they said their medium would be a bit runny in the yolk) and one of the eggs was pretty good with a creamy, slightly runny yolk. But the other egg was slightly overdone. Still, this was a nice benny and the herbed potatoes turned out quite well too. There were so many different types of fruit in the fruit bowl⦠orange, kiwi, mango, strawberry, blueberry, cherry, peach, grape, pineapple, honeydew, cantaloupe, watermelon, berriesâ¦.Although Iâm not a vegetarian, I thought Iâd give their Vegetarian Benedict ($15) a try. It comes with spinach, tomato, avocado, havarti and poached eggs. This was actually pretty good and I was surprised that I didnât miss the meat. Again, a solid selection of fruit in the accompanying fruit cup.Okay, so you knew that IT would eventually show up⦠and by âITâ I mean the Big Pannekoek ($18). While youâve probably heard of pannekoek from that other Dutch breakfast joint, you should give the one at Angelina a try. They werenât kidding⦠this is huge. The feather-lite crepe-like pannekoek is topped with an ample supply of meat (yeah, I know I did a complete 180 from the Veggie Benny that I had before) with the likes of ham, bacon, sausage patty, bratwurst, and eggs⦠all served with some hollandaise sauce on the side. Definitely enjoyed the crisp bacon here.Came back on a weekend and ordered the Fully Loaded Hash ($16) and Fresh Fruit French Toast ($17) with some Hot Chocolate. Now, I know that hash is, well, hashed up. But they werenât kidding⦠all of the ingredients in the hash were chopped up so it was difficult to tell what everything was. I guess thatâs the point. But I did really like the edam cheese as well as the sourdough toast.Okay, the thing to know about Angelinaâs is they are quite popular so it always seems busy here. Even on a weekday lunch, service is slow despite how many people they have working here. If youâre coming here on a weekend for breakfast/brunch⦠expect things to be slow⦠like really, really slow. That being said, the food is good and Iâd come back just for the fresh fruit cup the accompanies many of their dishes.Hello,Thank you for the awesome in depth review! I am very glad that you enjoyed our food. As for our wait times, this is something we are working on fixing. We have been trying to fix this issue for a while now and have been making slow but steady progress. So far our weekdays have very reasonable wait times however on weekends we can occasionally get quite backed up. We hope to fix this problem for weekends in the near future. Thank you so much for coming down to Angelina's.

Very handy when visiting the Honey Bee Centre is the Fry's Corner Beestro which even has a pass through entrance from within the Honey Bee Centre. They serve High Tea as well as number of menu selections - soups, sandwiches. Very friendly and welcoming service in this sort of hidden away gem
