Fresh local food made with love in Tofino, BC.
We visited Sobo on the recommendation of a local jewellery maker. The food was truly excellent, particularly the seafood chowder with corn bread which was the best i have ever had.The staff were genuinely interested in engaging with us and had a wealth of experience around the food options. On picking up the recipe book from the owner and chef Lisa Ahier we realised that there was a much bigger story. Came back the next day and met Lisa who is a really nice and engaging person. No wonder her restaurant is so good.

Honouring the history of our coastal locale, our restaurant was named after the year Tofino got its name. With a fresh take on local ingredients, our shared plates are devised by Top Chef Canada 2019, Paul Moran. Unwind off the water with wood-fired bites
We read about the renovations and changes and so decided to try this restaurant again for breakfast. The Renoâs are great - the place looks beautiful. However... service was pleasant but disorganized- juices were forgotten and had to ask twice before they finally made it to the table. The English muffins on the eggs Benedict were rock hard. The breakfast potatoes tasted odd - not sure if they were getting old or if the oil in the fryer hadnât been changed - either way it was not very good. Eggs were ok, bacon ok, coffee good. We were in Tofino for 6 days and didnât go back. Too bad because the view and decor are lovely.

Went here for breakfast and to say it was fabulous would be an understatement. I had the mushroom/polenta dish and it was unlike anything I had ever had for breakfast before. It was soooo flavourful!! The view of the beach was terrific, watching surfers in the water and people on the beach walking.

This is a lovely restaurant that is highly rated. The room is round to maximize the view of the water and the sunset was lovely. It is a high end restaurant associated with the INN and as such I found it to be expensive and a little stuffy although the service was as you would expect in this type of restaurant. The meal was very good with a lovely presentation but I personally prefer a more off the beaten path, smaller and interesting find of a restaurant.Dear hsherm56,Thank you for posting a Review of your recent dining experience at The Pointe Restaurant on Trip Advisor and sharing your experience with our online community. While we are pleased you enjoyed dining at The Pointe Restaurant, we are disappointed to read that you felt the service was stuffy as it is our expectation that our team provides friendly and sincere service to every guest. Please accept our most sincere apology. Each of our team members attend and participate in seminars which have been created by us and specifically tailored to all aspects of the Wickaninnish Inn service experience. We thank you for your feedback. We are surprised you felt The Pointe Restaurant was expensive as we do monitor similar properties and our Relais & Chateaux peers in a sincere effort to remain competitive. While the cost of the food is a function of not only the outstanding food products, many of which are locally sourced organic products and many others made in-house by our team members, but also incorporate the costs of high-end table ware and of course providing a spectacular oceanfront location. While it is our hope that our guests feel the experience is worth the price, any suggestions you have which would enhance your feeling of value for price paid would be most welcome. On behalf of Charles McDiarmid and The Pointe Restaurant team, we thank you for your Review.Sandy StockerGuest Relations CoordinatorWickaninnish Inn & The Pointe Restaurant

Kuma Tofino serving Japanese comfort food in a cozy environment.
The food was ok, but nothing we tried was really impressive. The waitress missed one of the items from our order and brought a different one instead, and after we complained brought us the missing dish, but we were charged for both. No apologies given. The prices are at the level of Shokunin Izakaya (deemed by some the best Japanese restaurant in Canada), but the food was less impressive than at cheap ramen places in Vancouver.
