KOJO Sushi on Skaha rd in Penticton is always superb! However, this time we visited their brand new location in West Kelowna by Nature's Market and Best Western. They opened this week. KOJO Bento and KOJO Ramen were wonderful!!! The owner and manager are friendly, the servers very fast. They gave eat in and take out. We will be back!

The chef at Kura is truly gifted. He has such a careful style to his creations and he puts such creativity into his dishes. I never usually order rolls when I eat Japanese food (I prefer nigiri) but their Alaska roll is amazing. So much tobiko on it! This is my favourite roll now! If you look at my sunomono photo you can see how nicely he prepares it. The chawanmushi is so filling and delicious. You don't usually find this sort of thing outside of Japan! So delicious and beautifully made. I know it is not the typical dish that Canadians eat at Japanese restaurants but if you like traditional food, I highly recommend it! The special dishes here really remind me of Japan! I was visiting the Okanagan for only 2 weeks but went to Penticton three times to eat here! \(^o^)/

We attended a conference across the street from Hokuto so it was a convenient option for lunch. The lunch special was good value and the sushi was decent. The service however, was inconsistent. We had ordered before a number of other parties (we all seem to order the same lunch special) and we were served after all the other parties and therefore we had to rush our lunch, so couldn't enjoy it as we wanted to. Other then that, I would go again for the lunch special (hopefully with more time to enjoy).

first time there i figured id just do california roll and 5 nigiri.i usually order something simple like that when i first try a restaurant.15 bucks and it was so tiny it made me laugh.also when i opened the chopsticks they were mouldly and rotten and emitted a foul odour.this also made me laugh.ive never seen that one before lol.i wont be going there again i can promise you that.

I really was looking forward to trying this restaurant. I ordered my two favourite things -- Wonton soup and Tempura. Let me start with the Wonton Soup --there is an expectation when I order Wonton soup because I have eaten it for years, and it was nothing like I expected. It was a vegetable soup with many vegetables including cabbage with some wontons. It didn't taste like Wonton soup -- it really wasn't Wonton soup. If I had known or even seen it before, I would not have ordered it. Don't get me wrong -- the vegetable soup was good but that's not what I ordered or wanted! As for the Tempura -- it was drenched with oil! My friend ordered one of the Lunch boxes which included Tempura -- it was also soaked with oil. It was difficult to differentiate the flavour of the contents of the Tempura because it was drenched in oil.I'm sure that they put out some good food according to many of the reviews but these two items- Tempura and Wonton Soup - were a failure. The staff should have spoken to the mother of the screaming 3 year old-- but didn't --so half of lunch time was listening to a dissatisfied screaming child. A take out order would have been very appropriate in this instance for this mother and child.

Looking to get my Sushi Fix we decided to try a different Sushi Place and this one was recommended by my Wife's Work Colleague. We were seated and I looked over the Menu, and the Drink Menu..Hmmmm.The server came and I asked what types of Beer they had and her reply was We don't have any Beer, and don't Serve Alcohol. Whaaaaaaaaaat????, At first I thought she was joking, However...She wasn't. At this Point I thought, do we stay or leave as I love to have a couple Beers with my Sushi.Since my Wife had a Cold, I didn't want to have to walk all the way back to the Truck and find another Sushi Place in the Dark, so I soldiered thru this..I ordered a Few Sushi Dishes, she ordered some Tempura and Soup. All 3 of my Sushi Dishes came at once, before even her Soup Appetizer Came....we waited a few minutes and nothing, so my Wife told me to go ahead and eat..5 Minutes later, nothing, no sign of our Server.10 Minutes go by, and I am a Third way done my Meal. Then the Server comes by and says she will check on her Meal...Then after 15 minutes her 2 Dishes come at the same time and the Server says " Sorry we are very Busy". Well it wasn't really that Busy.Well..!!!! maybe put my Dishes aside since they were all cold dishes and wait till her Hot dishes are Ready as I am sure it doesn't take long to Deep Fry 6 pieces of Tempura and Put a Ladle of Soup in a Bowl..Very poor service/execution of Meals and No Beers, which if the Service was Good, we could of overlooked but combine the two and that equals ZERO Tip and never to return. And we will never Recommend this Place as there are better Places to go to that have good Service and ...BEER

Sushi Genki is a take-out sushi restaurant operated by Japanese chef from Tokyo and his wife from Kyoto, Japan since June/ 2012.
Everything on the menu is amazing, the place is so cosy, and the couple running the restaurant are lovely! And prices are cheap regarding the high quality of the food. I go there quiet often and I have never being disappointed. It's for sur the best Japanese restaurant in Penticton, maybe the best I have ever tried in my whole life!Thank you Genki!
