We visited this restaurant while on vacation and exploring the area. First off the location is great right on the main street within view of the ocean with a nice patio and the interior decor was kind of neat and funky. I was looking forward to seafood while on this trip and considering that it's right on the water front and touts itself as having great seafood, that part of the meal was a bit of a joke. We had the nachos which were typical and just ok, nothing over the top. Couple other people had sandwiches and wings, all very decent as well. I spotted the 'Crab Cakes' on the menu which instantly caught my attention. One would think that if you see 'Crab Cakes' on a menu that it would actually be what it is claiming to be? Nope lol. The crab cakes arrived and it was a nice presentation, 2 hockey puck sized cakes with a small salad beside it, for $19.00. Upon the first bite, it was evident that it was not real crab but IMITATION CRAB - huh??! The rest of it was filler. I was so disappointed. My husband asked the waitress if it was indeed imitation and she confirmed that it was... I just laughed. She could tell I wasn't impressed, but nothing was offered. I still cannot believe we visited a seaside beach restaurant with fake crab cakes for $19 on the menu. Just ridiculous and I would not return if we were in the area again.

Jan's on the Beach: Open for Breakfast Lunch and Dinner. "Seafood and more" menu, great patio view of the San Juan Islands. Our menu focuses on fresh local ingredients, and is made to order from scratch right in our open kitchen. You can reserve a table o
Being new to dining in White Rock, my wife and I walked up the beach restaurants looking at their menus. We found a good-looking menu right off but wanted to look at all of them before deciding were to eat. Janâs on the Beach was the place with a lot of great sounding foods, not bar food. We were lucky enough to get an outside table on this sunny day and were greeted with a smile. If overlooking the bay from our seats did not give you an awe feeling our appetizer did. We started with the lettuce raps with warm shrimp and vegetables, they are a must try. Even if you are not hungry, grab a drink, the lettuce raps, and the view for a quick reenergizing treat. We had more, I got the surprise of my life when I tried the Halibut fish and chips, that are Gluten free too. Do not poop-poop this truly hand made fresh tasting meal that will make you forget all about any fish and chip you have placed upon your tongue. My wife had a similar experience with the Thai curry chicken and prawn bowl. Hers was medium on the heat and was spot on. You can taste the freshness of each dish, knowing that it was made just for you when you ordered and not sitting in a dish overcooking like a lot of restaurants now a days. Our lunch at Janâs on the Beach, left us dyeing to come back and relive the wonderful experience, and we will.Thank you for the great review! Very happy you enjoyed your time with us and we hope to see you again soon.

My wife and I looked up the best fish and chips around and we we're not disappointed. The light breading and fresh seafood make this a no brainier. If you are looking for seafood I would suggest giving this place a try. It helps that you are right on the ocean for the view.

Serving british style fish n chips by the waterfront. we serve Ling Cod (its the best Cod) and Halibut. We also have a great selection of other seafood, prawns . scallops and lobster tail, crab legs. for non-seafood fans we have chicken, beef and vege bur
Looks cool from the outside, and that's where the appeal ends. Average to below average food. Sticky table. We are very sorry we stopped here for supper one evening. We were seated inside and could see and hear directly into the kitchen. Yuck! Fish and chips always goes better with a beer, but restaurant is not licensed. Just walk a little further for a better meal.

FIVE on White Rock Beach on the Northern edge of beautiful British Columbia produces some of the best Fresh Seafood Dishes the world has to offer.
Hubs and I decided to have lunch (in our hometown) this week. There are numerous restaurants along the waterfront, I wanted to try one we hadn't been to before.Hubs had the soup and sandwich combo, mushroop soup was delicious and arrived piping hot, which made him happy. I ordered the Cobb salad. Lots of chicken, hearty portion, but halfway through our meal I realized the feta cheese was missing from my salad. I brought it to the attention of our server and she said "Really?" and then looked at my salad. I felt as though she thought I was not telling the truth, which irritated me; I couldn't finish the entire salad so asked to have it packed up, and could they put some feta into the takeout box. Happy to receive an environmentally-friendly takeout box. Ate the rest of my salad for dinner, barely a dusting of feta in it. At $22 I expected a bit better.

The floor is filthy and built up with crud. The food is decent though the portions are not large. The entertainment is good and the staff are friendly.

This was such a quaint little place! Loved the atmosphere and the menu looked absolutely delicious. My only gripe is that I didn't feel the item I got was worth what I paid however everyone else's food definitely looked worth the prices so that won't deter me from going back in the future. The yuzu drink was probably the best I've had my whole trip too!Thank you for coming in!!!!

Across the road from the beach, with a takeaway window for orders, a small outside seating area and indoor tables. We arrived after midday and it was busy,we asked through the hatch, a 15 min wait for a table inside. There were garden seats outside to sit on, lovely day so no worries there. The staff were helpful and. FriendlyWe ordered fish and chips and a large plate of onion rings. We left with a doggy bag of the onion ringsI myself found the batter. A trifle greasy other wise we enjoyed our meal. The decor has been around since it opened II guess in 1975.No problems with that, adds character.

Talk about history! Uli's has been a staple on the White Rock strip for 30+ years. Starting with Ulrich Blume, where he transformed his travels into the foundation of our eclectic Euro-inspired menu. Those same values have been apart of us over the years.
Whenever we go to Uli's , Tyson (the owner) always exceeds our expectations. He's always helpful and accommodating to all our requests. He's a great supporter of everything that goes on in our community. The food is always excellent and its always full of high energy people. I absolutely love the Caesar salad!!
