While in Courtenay we stopped into White Spot for a late breakfast and were we not disappointed. We were greeted and seated quite quickly and our server was super friendly and very attentive. The breakfast meal was delicious and portions were quite good. Well worth the time to stop.

Went for lunch here, mainly on the strength of TripAdvisor's overall ratings. Perhaps I should have looked more closely and seen the higher ratings are for breakfast, rather than the rest of the day.In any event, the sandwich was fresh and tasty, and the salad ok

We stopped off for lunch on our drive up the coast and were completely blown away by this place. It boasts a magical outside patio area to the rear, complete with mature grape vines, fairy lights and lots of seating. The food was truly excellent ( I enjoyed a portobello mushroom stuffed with crab meat and topped with mozzarella and my husband had the best rock fish burger) and the service is second to none! A must try is the cucumber G & T!! Highly recommended.

Consistently good spot to eat. We ordered a lamb burger and jambalaya. The lamb burger was juicy flavorful and great value for your money. The jambalaya was disappointing, it should have been filled with lots of sausage shrimp but was mostly peppers and a few of the meats. Ordered medium spicy and unfortunately it just tasted like it had a hot sauce on the whole dish. It was served over rice. The waitress was very informative about the specials and the service was fairly good. We will go back, just won't have the jambalaya.

When you enter the Yellow Deli, you might find yourself reliving some ancient memories of an era long gone. Built in the early 1920s, this house has welcomed many home through its doors and has remained much the same over the years. Inside, all of the dec
Took a guest out for lunch here the other day, as I wanted to see the new addition to the Yellow Deli. I am familiar with the menu, and not much has changed. For a new comer, the interior is a novelty and Hobbit like, but the wood seating can get uncomfortable. Service has a curiously disinterest to it. Rare is a smile, and water, menu, and your food is presented to you indifferently. Price point is very reasonable but they have no fryer so only cold crisps with your sandwich. Soup, home made, is extra and I had a cup, which was quite good, although overdone with cream. Which brings me to a possible FoodSafe issue here. Within a half hour of leaving the establishment, we both had diarrhea. My suspicion is the rather wet sauerkraut on the Rueben or the "special sauce" on The Rose. Guys, you got to work on this one and check on any issues in the kitchen. Won't be coming back soon.We are so sorry! The description of your experience pained us, as it is not characteristic of the attitude and quality of service that we aim for. We desire that our customers would have a positive experience that they will never forget, not a negative one! We believe life is about people and we are deeply sorry that we would let anyone down in this fundamental aspect. In regards to your health concern, we would like to let you know that this was an isolated incident, but we are seriously investigating any potential causes of food-borne illness. We really do hope you will give us another chance!

We were enthusiastic looking over the menu, but sure were disappointed by the food. Chicken soup broth so weak and tasteless that it might be made from powder. Mushroom/nut veggie burger so overcooked and black that it lost any flavour. Spicy fries limp, probably reheated from frozen. Beef burger overpriced for an ordinary burger with small patty, bland cheese barely melted. Avoid, there are lots of better choices on 5th, and Fluid on Cliffe knows how to cook for similar prices.

Even though i had researched this place prior to our trip for a late lunch as part of our stopover in Campbell River on our way from Victoria to Telegraph Cove it did not get the wow factor until we arrived there and it was such a surprise as the internet just cannot give justice to this place- it is beautiful beyond beliefIt is in the grounds of recently rennovated Kingfisher Resirt and Spa right on waters edge with beautiful garden and outdoor terrace to restaurantWe had in fact two starters which were not only incredibly generous in portion but reasonably priced and with the freshest of no doubt local products. We had a taco with raw tuna and vegetbles anda wild mushroom trt with rocket and feta cheese - we could eat that every week indefinitely and not tire of itThis was on eof the best meals we have had during our two weeks in British Columbia
Courtenay Food Guide: 10 Must-Eat Restaurants & Street Food Stalls in Courtenay

Having just arrived in Courtenay for the final evening of a 10-day visit to Vancouver Island, we hoped we could find a restaurant that could serve up a memorable meal. Using TripAdvisor as our guide, and the relatively small size of the city to facilitate exploration, we drove around and through the town until we settled on an elegant-looking establishment downtown, the Atlas Cafe.âCafeâ is an understatement, as it is a full-service, full-menu restaurant with a small bar. After a ten minute wait, we were shown to a quiet window table and studied the menu, which had a insert that listed the eveningâs special dishes. The one that stood out for me was the House Smoked Turkey Drumstick ($22), which was served as a giant club of meat and bone, beautifully smoked, and resting upon an absolutely delicious melange of vegetables, described on the menu insert as âarbol chili jus and local corn succotash with Fitzgerald Farmsâ Swiss chard, padron peppers and paddy pan squashâ. See if you can spot all these ingredients in the accompanying photo.I seldom am unable to finish a dish, especially when it is not preceded by an appetizer, but as good as this dish was, it bested me.Across the table, Madame has a large bowl of mussels in a light sauce with toast that she raved about ($17).We brought our own bottle of wine ($20 corkage). The dessert menu looked great, but there was no space left to put it.So our mission - to have a memorable meal on our last night on the Island - was accomplished, in a most enjoyable way.

Though I last reviewed this place six years ago, it has since changed ownership. Missing is the cordial owner/host (who turned out to be a tyrant to his staff and any quest that complained about anything). My friend and I had to wait to be seated, as expected, but we think current servers (3 on the floor when we were there), could do a better job of turning tables, as we saw empty tables while waiting. And one server appeared quite stressed. However once seated, we had another memorable brunch experience. The food here is so very fresh, creative and wonder and fully tasty! Kudos to server Savannah who had a smile on her face the whole time and said she "loved" working there. Other staff could learn from her. Kudos also for efforts to source their produce locally. However eggs from Duncan, two hours away, and Port Alberni for meat, seems a bit far to go when there are sources right here at home in the Comox Valley! If you go there knowing you will wait, you will be mightily rewarded! Can't wait to go back and possibly try a sweet dish, cause those crepes look awesome as well!

Locals Restaurant in now located at the historic Old House along the river in the center of town. This 1937 Arts and Crafts era inspired homestead is the perfect location for the fine cuisine prepared by European trained chef, Ronald St. Pierre.
Our dinning experience at Locals was first class. We could taste the freshness of the ingredients and perceive the skills and knowledge of the chef. In such a small town we where surprised by the food. To start with and courtesy of the restaurant we had couple of little treats. My husband had the Pacific Rim Bouillabaisse and I had the Fresh Pacific Halibut fillet. Both options where delicious and satisfying and so was the green salad we shared ( very fresh local ingredients). Our orange special dessert was tasty and the courtesy truffle was delicious. The restaurant is on the pricy side I have to warn. Thank-you so much for your positive feedback and attention to detail of what we take pride in! So glad you enjoyed your visit.
