The room was clean, and the twin bed is big. Loved the smell the moment we entered our room, and the decoration was nicely arranged in French and garden style. Didn’t have the chance to try their breakfast and dinner but we have enjoyed the stay at Le Castel. the famous castle of Brissac is just across the road, some restaurants available within walking distance. I would love to stay here again if i were to visit Brissac again.

The chateau is beautiful from the front facade and the gardens are well maintained, although we did not have time to go around them as it was only open from 10-12 and the tour lasted until 11.40. Of course the tour was in French - we are in France but there was a laminated sheet with lots of information on it for each room. We did feel, like others have mentioned, that the tour was a little long. I have to mention though that the rooms we visited, although most were decked out with stunning decor and furnishings, there was a strong musty smell throughout and mildew was evident in quite a few places. On the outside, away from the facade, it’s apparent why - as there are weeds and vegetation growing in every crack (of which there are many). The chateau definitely needs some tlc and a bit of an airing wouldn’t go amiss.

At the gates of Angers, in the heart of the vineyard, La Demeure du Goupil is situated at the entrance of the village. In an elegantly restored house, 3 spacious and comfortable rooms have a tastefully decorated contemporary. Quiet, refinement, elegance and serenity are the qualities that you find at the Abode of Goupil, while enjoying a sumptuous gourmet breakfast and friendly in the charming dining room or in the garden by the pool under the trees.
It had a very relaxing ambience, warm welcome and & great breakfast. The host had a lot of information about the local area. We just wish we had more time to spend in the Loire wine region. Lovely rooms, well furnished.

The Manoir de la Groye is typical of French Renaissance architecture, with a little Tuscan touch. A listed building, it is settled in gorgeous gardens open to visits. In the heart of the Anjou region, famous for its history and vineyards, it is built on the slope facing the Loire valley, an area listed as a World Heritage Site. As architect and landscape architect, we have carefully renovated the interiors and the expansive gardens to create a preserved romantic haven, striking a balance between antique and contemporary to offer our guests optimal comfort. The large pool, settled in a southern-style garden, is an invitation to swim. The large red living room and its library are worth a stop too. Freely-accessible bicycles give you the opportunity to discover the Loire landscapes. 12 acres of garden are there for you to either go for a walk or rest. The main square of the village, its bakery and its two restaurants, are a short walk away.
My partner and I stayed at the Manoir for almost a week while visiting family in the area and suited our needs perfectly. The house is set among a gorgeous garden and landscape (the whole property is maybe three or four acres!) and our hosts had obviously done an incredible job restoring and maintaining the it all. You can tell that they are incredibly passionate about horticulture (and have even labeled many of the plants on-site!), and dedicated to maintaining the authenticity and historic qualities of their home (like the exposed wood rafters, the original flooring and windows, and the slate stone walls and walkways), but have also elegantly integrated the modern amenities we all appreciate having (like beautiful new showers with excellent water pressure, full kitchens and plenty of radiators and outlets). The hosts are incredibly generous and available on-site to answer our many questions about the house and the region. There is a traditional french boulangerie just up the street with fresh bread and pastries, or you can elect to have breakfast provided by the hosts. There is a medium sized supermarket and pharmacy 5-10 minutes drive in Juigne, a farmers market once a week in Brissac 20 minutes away, and a very large supermarket one about 20 minutes away, and then of course the city of Angers is only about half an hours drive from the Manoir. The house is a perfect base to drive to the various chateaus in the region (dozens of which are within an hours drive from Saint Saturnin) and the area around the Manoir is quite flat with small and quite roads through farms and vineyards and so is perfect for biking around touring the many small towns in the area. And after a day of exploring, the Manoir is a perfect place to come home to and relax - there is a patio to enjoy the sunshine right outside the apartment we stayed in, plenty of chairs scattered through the garden and arboretum to enjoy a good book or have a picnic, and there is even a swimming pool!

Jean-Claude and Martine have a long experience in hosting homestay. Our lovely home is located in the Loire Valley, the heart of "Layon and Aubance" vineyards . Nearby cities of ANGERS (art and history french city) and SAUMUR, tourist town on the edge of the majestic Loire. Through the wine tasting and local produce served at breakfast you will travel in the Angevin culture. We welcome all by our sweet price!
Nice room at the first floor. Quiet, lot of room. Rear door directly connected to a garden. The host are very nice people. The breakfast is very good and plenty. Not expensive but you need a car to go there.
