Let me start by saying you must make a reservation online two months before you go and you really should do it as the clock strikes midnight. We had a 6:30 reservation which we thought might be early, but since the meal took 3.5 hours, it was a perfect time. It is an expensive dinner, but if you know that going in how could you be surprised? My wife and I do not drink and our bill came out to $690 which included to extra $10 no-alcoholic cocktails.

You are treated extremely well from the beginning. The valet service takes your name so that you are greeted when you get inside. As you leave at the end the inside tells valet so your car is waiting. The courses are delicious and presented in a unique and fascinating way. The servers are knowledgeable and friendly. There was a brief intermission in which you are brought to the bakery in the next room to learn about their bread and watch somebody make some.

My wife and I have some dietary restrictions and we were taken care of with deliberate attention and detail. I would like to go back one day, but the price makes it difficult. I would definitely recommend, though.

The food was very good as was the atmosphere and the location by the water. There is also an outdoor eating area.

If only the service was as good. It was okay, but I often wonder why a waiter/waitress does not show more interest in how your meal is, are the water glasses full, etc. Don't they know that the amount of the tip depends on the quality of service?

I will definitely try The Boathouse in hopes the service matches the quality of the food.

There is ample parking, but it is a little difficult getting into the parking lot from the main road. If you are traveling on either Snowden or Broadway onto Westerly Rd., be aware that it is a sharp right, just as the overpass becomes level, to get into the parking area. If you miss the turn, go a little further until you can make a U-turn. It was easier for me to then make a left into the parking area.

Patisserie/Cafe; unparalleled desserts and confections; excellent informal breakfast/lunch/dinner spot.

Simply delightful - pastries to die for. Great desserts to take home especially if entertaining. You'll wow your guests. Great place for breakfast or lunch, although I was disappointed in the croissant. IT was more like an airy dinner roll made to look like a French croissant, more like something from the supermarket rather than a flaky layered roll. That said, I had a delightful lunch. The soups are terrific.

This is a cozy little place in town. I believe the person who greets you is the owner. He was very friendly and helpful helping us decide what to order. From the soup to the sandwiches which are made out of crepes of course was delicious and tasted like the salad fillings had just been picked from the garden. Great little spot. They also serve many flavors of ice cream here if you want to stop in for a refreshing treat.

On our way to the Jacob Burns Center we decided to trust the TripAdvisor reviews and I'm so glad we did. Really fresh and well prepared seafood, which is hard to find these days.

We had the seafood chowder...with recognizable pieces of shrimp, lobster, scallops, salmon, etc. in a light cream base. You could actually taste the individual pieces of seafood. Delicious. Then the Seafood Appetizer platter. Generous pieces of lobster, shrimp, and sea scollops in a tasty sauce on a bed of corn salsa. Fresh from the grill, well presented, and very flavorful.

And did I mention the bread basket with a selection of bread with crispy flatbread and warm cornbread?

We had the Creme Brûlée for dessert. Beyond good. Maybe the best ever. And a really hot Cappuccino with biscotti.

Truly...it was a superb lunch. What a find!

Nice service from very friendly staff. Clean restrooms, always important. The store was clean too, even behind the counter at rush hour. They kept things moving. Easy on and off from the Taconic Parkway. The last one for quite a distance on our trip to Albany!

Dining in Westchester County can be challenging at times with the vast array of different dining experiences to choose from. We drove to Pleasantville from NYC based on a friends recommendation and we were not disappointed. Their broad menu including specials offered us wonderful choices. While my wife still favored a traditional chicken parm, i favored their orecchiette barese pasta. This followed the Margarita Paste that we shared as an appetizer. Great choices!! You won't be disappointed either.

Terra Rustica

Reviewed By PMATT914 - Westchester County, NY

Like you I know that familiar dining expression, "You eat with your eyes before you eat with your fork." But I was happily reminded WHY that is a familiar dining expression, when our server placed my veal scallopini before my eyes at Terra Rustica. Not to get overly poetic here but the thought flashed through my mind that if the chef gave this amount of attention to plating this dish, hopefully he did likewise in cooking it. I would note that we were there on a Sunday night and the restaurant was busy. Remember, scallopini is a thin piece of meat. So if the kitchen was equally busy and the chef was maybe running around for a minute of two more keeping up, I could have been spending more minutes chewing an overcooked of piece of veal. See what I mean? Happily, he wasn't and I didn't! My veaI was perfectly done. I was already "properly prepped" thanks to my appetizer. Like me, you probably have some rules of thumb when dining out that you've formed from experience. One of mine is a hesitancy to order seafood on a Sunday night. I mean, it's not likely that a suburban restaurant like this went to the fish market that day, right? But I opted to try the mussels anyway, reasoning that unlike fish, day old shellfish would still be okay....if they were cooked just right. These were! They were tender and succulent and the broth was nicely seasoned. By contrast, my wife had no such reservations. Terra Rustica has been a favorite of hers for luncheon get togethers with her friends. (However this was her first time for dinner and my first there at all). So she dove right in without hesitation with an oyster appetizer and a shrimp with pesto entree. Throughout the dinner she would ask if I was enjoying mine as much as she was hers, punctuated with "I told you so!" when I said yes. P.S.: I finished up with coffee and a cannoli which I will not bother to rate. I mean, hey-y-y!...is there even such a thing as a cannoli that's NOT good?!!

A very nice diner but nothing to write home about. Onion rings very well done and tasty. Wrap had chunks of meat which made eating not easy. My wife had the Greek salad with the head of the lettuce! Salad veggies slightly tired but again average. I would come back but wouldn't go out of my way. Service was good.

I've been going here for many many years. The interior hasn't changed much since they opened. The burgers haven't changed much either, and that's a good thing! Really good beef, char-broiled, no frills. This is quality you can taste at a fair price. Check it out!
