The Moulin Abbaye has 3 restaurants. We ate in each and were pleased with all meals. This is the classy one in the hotel proper. Service is excellent and the food was well prepared and presented and a wide range of menu options were offered.Dear Robin F,We thank you for your kind comment and are happy to read that you enjoyed your meal with us.We hope to see you again at Le Moulin de l'Abbaye.Best regards,

Homemade restaurant with a beautiful terrace located in front of the river with regional and organic products.
We arrived here after a 10k hike in warm weather. It was the ideal spot to take a breather and reflect on what we'd passed during the walk and perfectly situated overlooking the river in Beautiful Brantome. We were lucky enough to have a table outside so we could enjoy watching the world go by. The food is imaginative and quite obviously home made. There is not a huge choice on the menu but for us, that is always a good thing. We shared a foie gras starter (delicious) followed by a haddock flan. This was really delicious, tender, flavoursome fish, baked in a crust, which included sweet potato, topped with pumpkin and sunflower seeds. I don't know how this was cooked but it really is a great way to eat fresh fish. We finished with a predominantly local cheese platter which included the unusual smoked Trappe d'Echourgnac. All this accompanied by a carafe of local Bergerac rose. What could be better to set us up for our return hike to the car. Word of advice, probably better to reserve a table if you want to enjoy the riverside.

We had a drink here first, sitting right next to the river. Fantastic view. Friendly waiter. I expected the bill for four bottled Belgian beers to be over â¬20 but it came in at just â¬13.We had a walk and decided to come back for our evening meal. The food was excellent and the staff made a real effort to accommodate our poor French and make us feel welcome.More often in restaurants in a stunning location the staff don't bother because they know they don't need to, but here it was genuine warmth.

Dinner for 2 outside overlooking road & carpark which is unfortunate...the sister bistro by the river was closed on a Sunday night in June...vive la France !!Ate well and was well looked after by a team of 3 young ladies..all very efficient and smiling...menu not over exciting as most of the regional dishes were as one would expect but the cold soup and the lamb shanks were a good choice for a change from duck & foie gras !Cost for 2 with aperos, coffee and wine was 75 euros...would wait for the riverside one to open if visiting Brantome again...

Our party of six chose 4 different dishes from the a la carte menu, all variations of salads and tartines - vegetarian salad came with an omelette, fish salad with salmon and gambas, Caesar salad with tasty pieces of chicken and a goats cheese tartine with a bed of salad. We sampled each other's and all were delicious and generous. The restaurant is close to the town centre so easy to get to from all main car parks. The decor is light, modern and interesting with little designer touches that set it apart from the norm. Service was friendly and efficient. All in all a first class meal. Would definitely recommend and although it was quiet when we visited it would probably be best to book ahead in the summer season.

Brantome is small, so perhaps "searching" is not exactly the right word. Situated right next to the river, this is a very good little restaurant which must be booked at least a few hours ahead. All the food was delicious, and could be washed down with a very good wine. Service was good without being intrusive. Recommended.

Myself and my wife stopped at this restaurant and were pleasantly surprised. It was a really hot day and they supplied endless water without even asking. We both ordered the special set house menu which was 2 courses. The service was slow but we were in no hurry. The main was a homemade quiche with chips and salad. The quiche was one of the best weâd both ever had. The desert was ice cream that was also very good. The whole meal was less than â¬40 with a couple of beers. Definitely recommend.

We opted for the â¬48 pp menu. I started with the razor clam and chanterelle starter, which came as two elements - the razor clam "broth" and then the mushroom plate. My wife had the Onion/Leek tart. Both very good. For mains we had the duck breast in walnut sauce, which sounds odd but works and my Wife the trout. Again very good quality and well cooked.I cant remember the deserts but do recall that they were not as good as the 1st two courses. Various little tasters/amuse bouches added to the overall experience. Nice bottle of Sancerre Rouge.Overall, this is a restaurant that I will return to and somewhere for a special night out. Great service and friendly staff.Dear Porvera, We liked to please and advise the customer, it's done with you when we read your comment, now we are very happyThank you so much, we hope to seeing you again for a next trip Best regards,

Thoroughly enjoyable evening. We eat outside and the welcome was so friendly. They have clearly worked very hard at creating a great ambiance and the food was very, very good. We had walked from Brantome but we're staying a few miles away so the owner took over our phone call and made sure the taxi arrived after we had finished another drink in the delightful garden. So glad we booked.
