If you have never been to Burg (Spreewald) this is a must see. It is located in the old closed train station. It has a small Pension but I have not stayed there. This station served the small scale trains which used to run through the Spreewald. That's why this place is full of local memorabilia. Drinks are delivered to the table by a small model train which travels around the interior of the restaurant. It is very interesting for all ages. They serve good local food, much of which comes from the local producers and it is a great diversion from the expensive swanky new hotels that have grown up there in recent years. This is a great place but you may need a reservation at peak times!

We came here after the Spa. Everything else was closed on a Sunday evening. We were not very hungry, but wanted to eat something. Their soups are wonderful. Did not have a full meal, but some small apetizers. Everything very tasty. The service is very friendly.

Reasonable prices for s touristy town. Vegetable plates and large salad perfect. We were there on day of a German holiday. Every table taken but good service . Somewhat long wait for meal but understandable.

This is a very large restaurant, so it may be a bit less pleasant when crowded, but they open quite late and at 9PM we were almost the only customers. The menu is quite classical with all standard offers and also include a few more interesting dishes. It was (local) asparagus time when we visited and they (like all eateries around) offer a nice choice of these. No serious gastronomy but good dishes quite efficiently served. No problem. Good wine offer,

We came in with a reservation and a group of 11. Five kids and six adults. They had a nice table outside waiting for us.The kids all ordered âschweinchen dickâ (sorry, kids) and the adults had fish and schnitzel and senfsteak (mustard sauce). Most of it was pretty good, but my meal was not hot, and the the Bratkartofel were were not crispy, like theyâd been sitting around for awhile. My father in law said his âForelleâ fish was not fresh. (Mother in law ordered that same fish and said hers was fine). My biggest frustration is that they donât take any credit cards, but thatâs fairly typical in this region. I married a German so Iâm not unaccustomed to this, but Iâve watched the region mature over the last 25 years and this cash-insistence seems to be one of the last vestiges of the past.

Let's start: the Kolonieschänke is not bad, it simply does not fulfill its promises.Imagine a great place with organic food coming from well-know and highly regarded places. Take on top a well restore house in the Spreewald. Add an interesting carte, which unusually for Germany focuses on menus. Your expectations are high (like the prices). And you will be disappointed. The execution (a.k.a. the skills of the cook) is at best intermediate.Overpromise, underperform = 2/5 (the quality of the ingredients rescues one point)

Nice outdoor setting. Wine list very limited. Wife ordered fried catfish, got it baked in a cream sauce. Desserts the same. A so called mousse that had the consistency and taste of a blob of yogurt. Service gives new meaning to slow. I just don't know how else to rate it.

Our Kräutermühlenhof Burg (Spreewald) consists of a restaurant, a bed & breakfast with 15 double rooms and an event location for weddings and other parties. All of these are located right next to Burg's beautiful park. The word "Kräutermühle" is German fo
This is a nice local restaurant which initially seemed a bit over-touristed (probably due to the accordion player) but ended up being just fine. I think the music was sponsored by a lunchtime tour bus. No loud accordion music at dinner time, thank goodness.I had zander fish filllet, my father in law had forelle. My bro in law had a burger whereas all three ladies had potatoes with quark. We also had some delicious Spreewald pickles. Everyone was very happy with the food. The outdoor seating was a real treat in August. We had perfect weather and no bugs, except for a bee or two.The service was good given how full the place was. For some reason they only do two seatings, at 5:30 and 7:30. Thus, the waitresses are very busy having to serve everyone at the same time. But like most things In Germany, it worked well and no one complained. For six people the bill came in at â¬130. Not bad. Cash and EC card only, of course (accept credit cards, please!)
Great pit stop just off the motorway. mensa type restaurant that serves solid German food. Most expensive dish was 8 euro 50.Good price quality ratio. Thanks for your review die spreewaldbauern
