Visited for lunch as we had travelled out from the centre of Berlin to tour the Wansee Conference House.....and what an excellent find.We were greeted by a most helpful waiter who translated the menu for us and recommended some excellent locally sourced dishes. My wife had the liver and she said it was the best she had tasted in years, whilst i had the trio of steaks. We chose local wines by the glass, a rose & a red and they were very drinkable. Finally, we spotted a fresh baked cheesecake on their dessert trolley and we asked if we could share a portion which he very kindly split in two for us, so we had our own portions.....and it was superb and quite light.By the time we had finished our lunch, the pretty dining room was quite busy and added to the wonderful lakeside view made it a perfect place for a relaxed lunch. Our waiter was also most helpful when i enquired about a taxi back to the station, but he guided us to the local bus service which was ultra efficient.I heartily recommend if you are touring in the Wansee lakes area.

The staff was real helpful with the tongue braking names on the menu. Some are real nice for us the first time to eat at a Croatian restaurant. But we can recommend to try it yourself.

I really like this place as it is close by one of my favourite tracks around Berlin. The food isn't particularly good but the price is reasonable and it is enjoyable. The main attraction of this place are the people who come by and their motorbikes. It is a little bit like seeing a motorbike museum with an exhibition that changes every minute. There is ample parking space available for motorbikes and also enough tables and chairs for the drivers. The atmosphere is generally very enjoyable and sometimes you can get into great tech chats about the motorbikes you are riding. It is probably the only place in Berlin where it is completely safe to leave your helmet and your gloves on the handlebar of your motorbike. The only downside might be that if you are not into motorbikes you might not like this place and only think of it as a noisy place smelling of exhaust fumes and full of odd people.

I came across this nice restaurant during a business trip. The restaurant offers good alternatives to usual German cooking. Dishes are well arranged and nicely served (rumpsteak 'café de Paris' warmly recommended).Wines list is quite limited and includes some good French wines.Service is attentive even if sometimes a bit slow.

My and my friends stopped by Cafe Schlacht for a hot beverage to warm up after a trip to the nearby lake. The cafe is quaint, cute, and small. Although we only stopped for drinks, I took time to read the menu and noticed a full menu complete with lunch and dinner items. I ordered latte and a apple strudel (my first in Germany!) and the were very good. I highly suggest this place.

Wirthaus an der Rehwiese

Cosy traditional inn in leafy area of Zehlendorf, near Nikolassee/Schlachtensee. Serves proper Berliner food (Kalbsleber/Sauerbraten) and good beer - with an complimentary Schnaps at the end of the meal. You are made to feel very welcome and given excelle

Even inside, it's old German style, compfy and cute. Patrons tend to be older, lots of locals. The food is also very German (but some Balcan dishes, there must be some Serbian blood in the chef's veins!). It's good, but not great - very heavy on the grease. You definitely need a Schnaps afterwards. Which they offer you with the bill ;-). The garden outside is lovely and green and lovingly kept. A good choice if you're in the area or in dire need for some German cuisine in times of many Thais, Greeks and Italians...

Not many options outside Berlin center for good dining, this restaurant (run and attended by the owners) was an excellent option, a sophisticated décor with strong local feeling (complemented with English menus) and outstanding service. We were three couples and the consensus was that the food and drinks were very good... We shared the Calvados Carpaccio and I had Mais Chowder and Zwiebelrostbraten, both great. The souz chef visited our table to check that everything was great, she made the point that while us boys finished our plates clean the girls did not! After an excellent description of the desserts, we did not resist and went for the chocolate cake, impressive presentation and very good.We started with a complementary Sekt with Elderflower and finished with Monkey 47 gin; after a couple Habanos we completed an excellent evening. It was 11 pm on a Sunday (closing time) and we were not pressured at all to leave.I will absolutely go back if I have the chance. PS. Few steps from the Nikolassee S-bahn station!

Very delectable food. Nicely presented and with a great wine selection. It might be at a higher price level for some. I was there for lunch on a weekday so I could basicallt pick the table and had the staff almost all by myself. I could imagine it to be crowded on a saturday evening, for instance. If you want to eat then, a reservation might be apt. They serve delicious starters, very good main corses and delectable deserts! Enjoy!

il Brunello

I'm house-sitting in Berlin's residential South-West, with little else to do except enjoying an idle, hot summer in the beautiful leafy lakey outskirts of Berlin. The Schlachtensee is two minutes close. But where can I eat? I mean, good food? So exploring Nikolassee by bike, I pass by Brunello's on Spanische Allee. I'm immediately drawn by the large shady terrace, by the daily changing chalkboard menu - this looks different! -, and by the sleek tasteful wine tavern interior inside. It's white table cloth type of restaurant, catering to the seniors in the neighborhood. But the crew is young, accommodating, knowledgeable, charming, and cheerful. Their purpose in life is stated on the first page of the menu: If we can't read from your lips tell us - and we'll make every effort to make you happy customers. I take that literally and give them a hard time, peppering them with extra requests. Do you do half portions? Yes, of course. Oh, and can I get a little assaggio of the caponata to my already mixed antipasti starter? Come no, signora, volentieri. Li serve cualcos'altra? Well, hm, yes, it's not on the menu, but can I get a tris di pasta? Va beníssimo, signora, come lo preferisce? So it's true, they go out of their way to please you. And oooh the food. OMG! I've been there three times in a week. Everything was fresh, tasty, and beautifully presented, a feast to all senses. Here's what I had:On day 1, I went with the daily changing lunch menu. From Mon-Fri, you have two options - one pasta menu, and one with a secondo piatto in the middle - your choice of fish or meat. Both are preceded by a soup or salad and are quite a steal. I had a salad and the pikeperch fillet in a sauce of agrumi and coriander, with rosmary potatoes, carrots, and turnips. What can I say. German zander tends to be on the boring side, it all depends what you do with it. And these folks know what to do with it... For desert I ordered their cassata, which, in it's Sicilian original version, is a semifreddo cake, not an ice cream. Something I learnt that day! And I was absolutely pleased by the looks, the flavors, the service. On day 2 I go back for their red beets gnocchi with a walnut filling and on a mascarpone sauce. My half portion includes five large gnocchi that look beautifully pink - think raspberry. Large means they better be soft, moist, and creamy - not chewy as they sometimes come. Well they passed the test. The antipasti starter also came as requested - with a tenderly roasted vitello tonnato, meat still bright pink, gently grilled zucchini and eggplants, and a goat-cheese stuffed round pepperoncini - nice. The extra caponata sample was ok but it didn't wow me as much. It wasn't too oily, and it came meticulously prepared with the finely chopped celery cubes to spice up the heavy eggplant dish. I was surprised they served it hot (lukewarm tastes better), and I would have added capers and raisins to it. On day 3 I order the extra pasta dish. The waiter suggests truffled tagliolini, penne all'arrabbiata, and I absolutely want to try their carbonara - Italian style, no heavy cream. All three are absolutely delicious. With simple traditional dishes, it's about using the right ingredients in the right way, and that's pretty much the secret of great Italian cooking. The arrabbiata is surprising me the most, but go try yourself. No comments on the wines yet. Stay tuned!

In summer it seems that places with good view and outdoor seating are at an advantage.Ser5vice and food quality is not paramount! This is one of those places. We came here in an effort to get closer to the water and boats for which thus was perfect.Several dog lovers crowded the place and some boat owners hang about before and after the trip. The service is well non existent and you go into this cabin like place and get what you want. You have to do the same when you want to pay the bill. But the service of Nature is impeccable with food views of sky and lake and flora around. relaxing, once you get your coffee
