Suggested by my son’s work colleague, we couldn’t have been more pleased. Tasty, filling food in a relaxing, cafe-style environment, at value for money prices. The menu had something for everyone, with also a good selection of vegetarian (maybe even vegan) dishes. The cakes looked delicious. If you’re a cyclist, it’s a popular destination at the weekend with some cycling memorabilia adorning the walls. Well worth a visit.

In 2009 Robert and Sarah Branch gave up their comfortable lives to begin their dream of owning their own cafe, and after many sleepness nights, blood, sweat and tears The Booking Hall Cafe was born! Situated next to the Flitch Way, the cafe now boasts an enviable reputation across the county for good food and a friendly smile. Over the years the family run business has grown to become the centre of Rayne's Community, now run by soon to be married Grace Branch and Joshua Meehan, what started as a simple cafe has become a centre for hiking, cycling and rambling clubs, a charity fundraiser, host to the famous Rayne music festival, home to Quirky Carrot Catering and a delight for any passer by or foodie thats been tempted by one of our famous Gourmet Sandwiches. So sit back, order a tea, a slice of cake or a door stop Sandwich and watch the world go by... And of course Welcome to The Booking Hall Cafe.
Myself and 7 year old daughter visited the Booking Hall Cafe a lot during the 6 weeks holiday. Putting our bikes in the back of the car, parking in the the cafe car park for free and then cycling the Flitch Way to Felstead and back.
The combination of the cafe's history, location good food and service make this a draw for cycling clubs and walkers using the Flitch Way.
The food is excellent and I highly recommend the ham and 2 cheese melt panini, coffee and walnut cake and a coffee!!!
My daughter loves the strawberry split smoothie and the promise of it keeps her going for the last mile!!!
The cafe owner and staff are friendly, the food is excellent and sitting eating lunch on a former railway station platform in the the sun after cycling makes for a lovely day out.

We’ve been to the Dolphin before but we learned recently it’s been taken over by new owners. So tonight we decided to give it a go. I went for the burger which I have to say was absolutely fantastic. It was juicy and full of flavour and you could tell they were home made. My partner had the lasagne which we always find isn’t that great when we have it out, but she thoroughly enjoyed it. I went for the strawberry cheesecake for desert and my partner had the warm chocolate browny and ice cream of which were both excellent . It was busy but they did manage to find us a table. Staff were very welcoming and attentive, we would definitely come back and would definitely recommend it to friends.

Wine and food lovers are in for a special treat as an international connoisseur and her husband have just opened one of the first 'eno-gastro' pubs in Britain, just a stone's throw from London. On the last Saturday of each month we have a 8 course Taster Menu for just £35 per person. Sunday roast special £9.85. ....and lots more happening at the Vine, please call for more details.
We went on a Groupon Voucher. Very good value for money.
Starters included Scallops, Prawn Cocktail, Duck Wings, Goats Cheese,Bread Board with dips and Livers. They were all excellent and very well presented.
Main Courses, men had Steak and Ale pie which they all enjoyed served with lots of veg.
Ladies had Chicken and Lamb Shank. Again presentation was very good.
Service was with a smile.
To finish off Belgium Waffles with Strawberries and cream and Christmas Pudding went down well.

Arrived 1800 , opening time, to be told there was only one table left, which we swiftly snapped up. Good job we did, the restaurant very quickly filled up, and, when we left , there were folk queuing up outside. I would definitely recommend booking. The Dynasty is popular, and with jolly good reason. From the extremely warm greeting, the service, the food the place itself, we found all to be faultless. We decided on the buffet and what a good choice that was. Not a queue up and bun fight buffet but a serve at your table one. the menu covered everything expected of a Chinese. The servers were very attentive throughout the meal. The food itself was wonderful, the beef, melt in your mouth.
A wonderful dinning experience, and one which we shall be repeating very soon.
Thanks very much to everyone who made our visit so good.

A chophouse is more than just a restaurant or a pub; it’s a British institution dating back to the origins of modern commercial trading in the late 17th century. Chophouses were exclusive places where businessmen conducted their affairs over hearty platefuls of food, usually grilled, and washed down with fine wines or well-kept local beers. The traditional nature of the food served was zealously maintained until the later 19th century, when influence from overseas introduced new and different styles of cooking. The Chophouse Braintree is keen to re-ignite the traditional chophouse philosophy; here you can enjoy fine food, exceptional wines, a relaxed atmosphere and - if you've chosen well ! - great company.
Dined with friends for dinner. A little gem. The food is lovely - had the coronation crab and hake. Dessert was delicious too. Very good service despite being busy.Good value for money. Will be back and would thoroughly recommend.

When considering where to eat in the Braintree area there's not a lot of choice unless you travel further afield so it's good to be able to recommend 47 The Street as a beacon of culinary quality in a barren landscape. Satisfyingly busy on a Saturday night we were given a friendly welcome and well looked after throughout the evening. Service is efficient without being too over-attentive. Just right. The food isn't bad either with an extensive and varied choice. We enjoyed our evening and will certainly return.
